Connect the dots here; the Patriots dismantled the Steelers, an AFC favourite 33-3. The Dolphins – a likely bottom three team – lost 59-10 at home to the Ravens. This game could get ugly fast.

The Patriots opened up briefly as 15.5-point favorites, but that quickly changed and reopened at 19-point favourites by mid-week.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This may come as a surprise to you, but the Dolphins enter this game with the Patriots, winners of two of the last three games against them. You might remember the classic (if you are a Fins fan) December 12 game (the last time these two teams played), where on the last play of the game after numerous handoffs and laterals, Kenyan Drake scored a touchdown with no time left to beat the Pats 34-33. They were 9-point underdogs in that contest.

Here are a couple of stats that might make you think a little if you are on the side of a Patriots blowout. New England is 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games in Miami. Also, the home team in this head to head series is an impressive 14-3 ATS in the last 17 games.

However, the favourite is this series is also 9-4 ATS in the last 13 games played.

New England Patriots

It was a banner raising occasion both on and off the field for the Patriots in Week 1. Prior to the Sunday night contest, the franchise was presented with their sixth Super Bowl championship and then showed why they were World Champs picking apart the Steelers.

Tom Brady was vintage Brady, throwing for 341 yards (24-of-36) and three touchdowns in the victory. Phillip Dorsett caught four passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, the offence was in mid-season form outside of the play of Sony Michel who only managed 14 yards on 15 carries.

Maybe the most impressive part of the teams win was the play of the defence. It held an explosive Steelers offence to just three points, and only 32 rushing yards against.

Receiver Antonio Brown was expected to make his Patriots debut in Miami this weekend. However, that debut may be on hold as media reported Wednesday morning that Brown is facing a sexual assault lawsuit filed against him earlier in the week. Brown is a seven-time NFL Pro-Bowler coming off his sixth consecutive season with at least 100 receptions and 1200 yards.

Miami Dolphins

What can you say about the Dolphins? After the team’s 59-10 meltdown to the Ravens in week one it prompted the Sports Interaction’s line management team to create a unique prop asking the public “Will Miami go 0-16 in the 2019 regular season”? It is still available on the site.

Back to the game, let’s be serious, is the Dolphins thought last week was tough, this week might be over the top. Last week the team’s two top Running backs Kenyan Drake and Kalen Ballage combined for a total of 11 yards in the entire game.

Whether it is Ryan Fitzpatrick, who started week one, or Josh Rosen, who also saw duty in week one, this will be a tough assignment in week two. Dolphins Quarterbacks combined for 190 yards passing (15-of-32) and two interceptions versus the Ravens.
