After scoring 70 total points during a red-hot 2-0 start, the Cowboys were humbled by a desperate Cardinals squad riding a nine-game losing streak. However, the Cowboys can take comfort in the nine-game straight up win streak on home turf they currently enjoy. The Patriots overcame their recent offensive woes with a stout defensive performance in last weekend’s 15-10 road victory over the New York Jets and will be vying for a third outright victory in as many visits to Dallas.

The Cowboys have faded to 7-point home favourites on the NFL odds since opening at -7.5. The Patriots arrive in Big D pegged as +225 moneyline underdogs, and the total has steadily climbed to 43.5 since opening at 42.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sunday afternoon’s matchup at AT&T Stadium marks the first regular season meeting between these teams since October 2021, and the Patriots’ first visit to Dallas since 2015. The Cowboys rolled to a 35-29 win when they visited Gillette Stadium two years ago, napping a six-game losing streak against the Pats that dated back to 1999. That marked just the second time in 10 head-to-head meetings that these teams combined to score more than 40 points. Accordingly, the UNDER has gone 8-2 over that stretch.

New England Patriots

It was far from a dominant offensive performance by the Patriots in last week’s trip to the Big Apple. Mac Jones amassed just 201 yards on middling 51.7% passing, but managed to find the end zone once, extending his run of consecutive games with at least one touchdown pass to six. Overall, the Patriots have scored an average of just 17.3 points per game during their 1-2 start. And while they have averaged 107 rushing yards per game to date, they have also recorded just one total scoring run.

But what the Patriots lacked on offence, they more than made up for with an impressive defensive performance. New England limited the Jets to just 171 total yards of offence in last week’s victory and forced New York to go 3-and-out on nine occasions. That follows a steady, albeit losing performance against Miami, which the Patriots took down to the wire in a 24-17 loss two weeks ago.

Dallas Cowboys

It is tough to fault the Cowboys for looking past the Cardinals last weekend. After all, this team had just demolished the Giants and the Jets, and freefalling Arizona squad looked like an easy win. Of course, that is not how things worked out for the Cowboys, whose weaknesses were exposed in the desert. Despite seeing his team pile up 86 points in the first three games, Dak Prescott has not been prolific, connecting on just three scoring passes and averaging 215.7 passing yards per game.

Running back Tony Pollard has emerged as the star of the Cowboys offence. In addition to recording two scoring runs versus the Giants, Pollard scampered for 122 rushing yards last weekend. And apart from their poor performance in the first half last week, the Cowboys’ defence has remained steady. The Dallas ranks fourth overall, while the pass defence trails only Cleveland after allowing just 130.7 yards per game and two total touchdowns.
