The Los Angeles Chargers showed the Panthers exactly what they need to do in order to beat the Packers. Just keep the ball away from Aaron Rodgers. Packers fans hope that lessons were learned in that game, and that new coach Matt LaFleur makes the adjustments necessary to avoid the same mistakes that led to that weak effort and deserved loss.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Green Bay have the slight historical advantage here, and are 9-6 overall against the Panthers, with wins in six of the last 10 including playoffs.

At Lambeau, the Pack are 4-2 at home against them, and that includes the last matchup in Green Bay’s house, which was way back in 2014.  It’s often a close one between these two teams, as four of the last five games have been decided by eight or fewer points. As of this writing the Packers are -5 point favorites at home.

The Packers will have their bye in Week 11. The last time they had a Week 11 bye? 29 years ago, in the year the bye was reintroduced into the league.

Carolina Panthers

The biggest news out of the Panthers camp this week is that Cam Newton has been placed on injured reserve, indicating that his season is likely over. This means that Carolina will continue to rely on Kyle Allen at the quarterback position, where he’s done quite well so far, going 5-1 in his last six.

Allen has completed 60.7% of his throws for 1,291 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s been intercepted four times and boasts a 87.8 passer rating.

Carolina is now 5-3 on the season, and are coming into this game in Wisconsin off of a 30-20 win against Tennessee. The strongest player so far this year for the Panthers is undoubtedly Christian McCaffrey, who the Packers’ defense had better be prepared for if they plan on winning this one.

Green Bay Packers

Maybe it was the travel, maybe it was that they’d just gotten too comfortable in their division lead, but the Packers team that showed up to play the Chargers last weekend didn’t really show up at all. Future Hall-of-Famer Aaron Rodgers averaged just three air yards per completed pass which put him in bottom five in the NFL last week.

Most thought that the long-awaited return of Rodgers’ favorite target, Davante Adams, would mean an even better Packer offense, but Adams caught just seven of the eleven Rodgers threw him, and gained only 41 yards. Hopefully he was just rusty after his long absence.

The final score was 26-11 and the big takeaway was an exposed offense and a not-so-great defense. Lafleur might have to go back to the Adams-less plan, and depend more on the run game and Aaron Jones, who before Week 9 was the shining star of this offense.
