Carolina Panthers

Carolina should be getting an even bigger boost to their running back group as superstar Christian McCaffrey has been practicing lately and may be on track to play this week.

There was a lot of optimism surrounding the Carolina Panthers earlier this season. Expected to be one of the worst teams in the league, many were surprised when they started 3-2. However, they have endured a three-game losing streak and are in danger of a fourth straight loss as they are a double-digit dog at Kansas City this week. Can they compete in this spot or will their losing streak extend by one more game?

NFL Week 9 Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The under is 4-0 in the Panthers last four games played on grass and 5-1 in their last six games overall. However, the over is 6-1 in their last seven games following an ATS loss and 7-3 in their last 10 games when following a straight up loss. Carolina is also 4-0 ATS in their past four games when coming in as the underdog and 7-1 ATS in their last eight when allowing more than 350 total yards in the game prior.

On the other hand, the under is 4-0 in the Chiefs last four games after scoring more than 30 points in the game prior and 8-2 in their last 10 after generating more than 250 passing yards in their previous game. It is also 5-2 in their last seven games overall. Kansas City is 4-0-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 9-1-1 ATS in their past 11 home games.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers got a bad injury scare in their last game when their starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down with a neck injury after getting hit in the head while falling down. However, he was able to come back in and finish the game, so all signs point towards him starting again in this matchup. Bridgewater had an underwhelming game his last time out, only throwing for 176 yards with one touchdown and one interception against a shaky Atlanta Falcons defense. They were able to get their rushing game going, though, running 22 times for 147 yards.

Carolina should be getting an even bigger boost to their running back group as superstar Christian McCaffrey has been practicing lately and may be on track to play this week. His boost can give the Panthers the help they need in order to keep up with the Chiefs high powered offense. The big concern here is the Panthers will need points and they’re not exactly an explosive unit.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs show no signs of slowing down. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been just unreal this season and is coming off a game where he threw for 416 yards with five touchdowns and zero interceptions. Unfortunately, their rushing attack didn’t do much of anything in their last matchup, taking 20 carries and totaling only 50 yards – even with Le’Veon Bell active. They should have no problem carving up the Panthers 15th-ranked defense but it’s been their own defense that has been a bit of a surprise this season as they are ranked 10th in the league overall. They could make things very difficult for Bridgewater and the Panthers 19th ranked offense.
