NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Only the divisional winner with the best record in each conference gets a first-round bye in the playoffs, and that team is going to be Detroit (12-1), Minnesota (11-2) or Philadelphia (11-2) in the NFC. If Seattle (8-5) wins the NFC West, it’s thus very possible that the Seahawks would host Green Bay again as the Packers are nearly locks to be a wild-card team (-6000 for the playoffs) — and at 9-4 would be leading the NFC West and South. They are unfortunately stuck in the North with the Lions and Vikings.

Currently, Seattle is the NFC’s No. 3 seed and Green Bay the No. 6, so this would be a Round 1 matchup. The Seahawks aren’t getting higher than the No. 3, could be a wild-card team or miss the postseason entirely. The Packers probably can’t get higher than sixth because the four division winners are locked in spots 1-4 and then whichever of the Lions or Vikings doesn’t win the North should be the top wild-card club.

This marks the first-ever Sunday Night Football game in Seattle for Green Bay, which holds a 15-9 advantage in the series all-time including playoffs. The Pack haven’t played in the Pacific Northwest since 2018 or won there since 2008. They last played in 2021 with the Packers recording the first shutout in the series with a 17-0 home win.

Green Bay is 4-1 SU and 4-0-1 ATS in the past five regular-season meetings.

Green Bay Packers

Any shot the Packers had of winning the NFC North vanished on Thursday in Week 14 when they lost 34-31 on a last-second field goal in Detroit to be swept in the season series. Just a fabulous, back-and-forth game in which the Lions converted multiple fourth downs for the win. Green Bay was the first team to reach 30 points against a very good Detroit defence in 2024. Running back Josh Jacobs rushed for three scores for the second time in three games and has eight rushing TDs over the last four games, making him just the second Green Bay running back since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger to do so (Aaron Jones, 2019). Green Bay played Detroit without three injured starters in CB Jaire Alexander (knee), LB Edgerrin Cooper (hamstring) and WR Romeo Doubs (concussion). Good chance all get back here off the mini-bye. The Packers’ four losses are to Detroit twice, Minnesota and Philadelphia by a combined 20 points. Those clubs are a combined 34-5. The over is 6-0 in Green Bay’s past six December games.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle sits alone in the NFC West and finished off a season sweep of what had been second-place Arizona on Sunday with a 30-18 road win – the Seahawks’ fourth straight victory since their Week 10 bye, and now they don’t have to worry about the Cardinals winning any head-to-head tiebreaker. Seattle was last in the division before this streak. No. 1 running back Kenneth Walker was out Sunday and backup Zach Charbonnet ran for a career-high 134 yards and two touchdowns. His rushing total was the best by a Seahawks back since Walker had 167 yards against the Chargers in Week 7 of the 2022 season. The offensive line played great as QB Geno Smith was not sacked in the game, a first this season, and the Cardinals recorded just two quarterback hits. The defence picked off Kyler Murray twice in the first quarter and both would eventually lead to TDs. That really was the difference. The defence is allowing just 15.5 points per game in the past four after giving up 29.7 in the previous six in which Seattle went 1-5. The Seahawks are 1-4 ATS in their past five at home.
