Packers vs. Raiders Point Spread: MNF Week 5 Odds, Prediction

The Packers as priced as 2-point favourites on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Raiders are simply going to have to get used to being “visitors” in their own Allegiant Stadium in some games because visiting fans are going to gobble up tickets whenever available – especially those fans who haven’t seen their team play in Las Vegas before. And few fan bases travel in the NFL more than those of the Packers. So it will be very interesting to see the fan split on Monday night.

It’s only the second all-time MNF meeting between the franchises as they met in 2003 in Oakland. Green Bay has won eight games in a row against the Raiders and scored at least 28 in all of them — including at least 38 points in four of the last five. Three of the last five have been decided by 30-plus points and just three of the 13 regular-season matchups between the two clubs have been decided by single digits.

They last played Week 7 in 2019 in Green Bay and the Packers won 42-24 behind five Aaron Rodgers TD passes and a TD run in one of the biggest games of his Hall of Fame career. Derek Carr threw for 293 yards and two scores but like Rodgers is now elsewhere.

Green Bay Packers

The jury is likely still out on new Packers starting QB Jordan Love. He certainly has had his moments and is among the NFL leaders with eight touchdown passes but also is completing a league-low 56.1 per cent of his throws. Love threw a season-high two interceptions on Thursday in Week 4 as Green Bay was beaten 34-20 at home by Detroit. No. 1 receiver Christian Watson made his season debut off injury and had a TD catch. Top running back Aaron Jones returned after missing a game but didn’t look 100 per cent and was a non-factor. The entire running game was and that has been an issue in the early going with the offensive line rather banged up. Good-looking rookie TE Luke Musgrave left with a possible concussion vs. Detroit but with the few extra days off may play Sunday as he has been practicing.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders squeaked by a bad Denver team 17-16 in Week 1 but have lost three straight since and not topped 20 points in a game yet this year. Offence was not supposed to be the problem. Rookie fourth-round pick Aidan O’Connell had to start this past Sunday’s 24-17 loss to the Chargers at QB with Jimmy Garoppolo dealing with a concussion. O’Connell was sacked seven times and turned the ball over three times — two fumbles and one interception. Not yet clear if Garoppolo will be cleared for Monday but embattled coach Josh McDaniels said Jimmy G remains the starter even though he is tied for the NFL lead with six picks despite the one missed game. Reigning NFL rushing champion Josh Jacobs has been a bust so far playing on the franchise tag with 166 yards on 62 carries. Las Vegas is 5-11 in one-score games since the start of 2022 as pressure rises around McDaniels.
