The Panthers are in the middle of a massive playoff hunt in the tough NFC, and things may have gotten even tougher. This week all-pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers is eligible to play for the first time since breaking his collarbone back on October 15 vs. Vikings. The Packers are also in the playoff mix, but somewhat of a long shot, needing to win the remaining three games and getting help along the way.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

These two teams meet for the first time since November of 2015, when the Panthers snuck past the Packers 37-29 in Carolina. The previous season, the Packers took the game, 38-17 in Green Bay (October 19, 2014). A couple of key notes when looking at this game; first, the over is a perfect 6-0 in the last six meetings, while the underdog is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings. However, the home team in this series is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games. Overall, these two franchises have met 14 times in the past, with the Packers holding the lead with a 9-5 record.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers are coming off a 27-21 overtime victory in Cleveland, and now find themselves 7-6 on the season (7-6 ATS). Technically, the Packers are still alive in the post season hunt in the NFC, and with the probable addition of Aaron Rodgers at the quarterback position – could be the biggest boost any team could receive right now. The Packers secondary has taken a beating as of late, with cornerback Kevin King already on IR and Davon House left the game against the Browns with a back injury, and his status for this Sunday’s game is still unknown.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are coming off a huge 31-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings this past Sunday afternoon. Carolina is 9-4 on the season (8-5 ATS) and now tied for first place in the NFC South division with the New Orleans Saints, and one game ahead of the third place Atlanta Falcons. Running back Jonathan Stewart is coming off his best game of the season against the Vikings, rushing for 103 yards, and three touchdowns. The Panthers running game is currently ranked fifth in the NFL with an average of 134.5 yards per game. Defensively, the Panthers are ranked fifth in total defence (302.1), and are seventh in stopping the pass (212.6), and tied for thrid in protecting the run (89.5).
