The Green Bay Packers would love to lock up the NFC North with time to spare – and they can take a big step in that direction against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The Packers are favoured by more than a converted touchdown against a Lions team that is coming off an improbable victory over the reeling Chicago Bears, but will be looking to avoid a season sweep after dropping a 42-21 decision to Green Bay in Week 2.

NFL Week 14 Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Packers have been a bettor’s dream to date, going 9-3 SU and 8-4 ATS – and one of those win/cover doubles came in their second game of the season, when they throttled the Lions in the second of three straight games with 37+ points. But while Sports Interaction bettors are squarely in the visitors’ favour – 84 percent are siding with Green Bay – it’s notable that the Packers have covered just one of their previous six visits to Ford Field.

The total for this game takes us back to the high-scoring days of September and October, coming in at a sky-high 55. And the betting crowd is split completely down the middle between the Over and the Under, which suits the sportsbooks just fine. Green Bay has surpassed the total in five of its previous seven games away from Lambeau Field, while the Lions have converted the Over in five of their past six overall.

Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers might be a distant second to Patrick Mahomes in the race for the NFL MVP award, but there’s still time for the future Hall of Famer to make up ground. And a second encounter with Detroit could provide his resume the boost it needs: while he had a modest game the first time around (240 yards, two TDs), Rodgers has thrown for 25 touchdowns and just three interceptions in the last 10 head-to-head meetings.

Detroit Lions

While the Lions’ defence gameplans how to stop the dangerous duo of Rodgers and wide receiver Davante Adams, the offence might be welcoming back a key piece this week. Rookie running back D’Andre Swift missed last week’s game with a non-COVID-related illness but has returned to practice in a limited basis and should be in the lineup Sunday. Swift is averaging 4.7 yards per carry with six touchdowns on just 101 total touches in his first NFL season.
