Packers vs. Eagles Point Spread: NFL Week 12 Odds, Prediction

The Green Bay Packers come off a mini-bye on Sunday night in Week 12 as they visit MVP candidate Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles. Philly is a 7-point favourite on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

It’s possible this is a playoff preview. The Eagles, barring an epic collapse, certainly will be there. Green Bay has a lot of work to do but it’s not wise to bet against Aaron Rodgers reaching the postseason. Rodgers is a four-time NFL MVP, while Eagles QB Jalen Hurts might win his first this year.

The last meeting between the teams was Week 13 of the 2020 season at Lambeau Field with the Packers winning 30-16. Rodgers threw for 295 yards and three scores, and Aaron Jones had 130 yards on 15 carries, including the game-clinching 77-yard touchdown with 2:36 left. Philly’s starting QB then was Carson Wentz, but he was ineffective and eventually replaced by a then-rookie Hurts, who wasn’t much better.

The Packers have won six of the last eight meetings (including playoffs) against the Eagles. Green Bay also won its last trip to Philadelphia, 27-13, on MNF in 2016. The road team is 5-2 ATS in the past seven meetings.

Green Bay Packers

It appeared the Packers might have fixed things with a 31-28 overtime win over Dallas in Week 10 but then Green Bay was knocked off at home 27-17 by Tennessee in Week 11 to fall to 4-7. Really no wiggle room left now to make the playoffs. Aaron Rodgers was 24-for-39 for 227 yards and two scores and outplayed by Ryan Tannehill. Rodgers has been playing through a thumb injury.

The Packers have lost consecutive primetime games with Rodgers as the starter after winning 13 straight under the lights. Rookie Christian Watson caught two TD passes and now has five in the past two games. Fellow rookie wideout Romeo Doubs missed his second straight game with an ankle injury and isn’t likely for this week. The Packers are 2-6 ATS in their past eight road games.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles avoided their first losing streak of the season by rallying Sunday for a 17-16 win at Indianapolis – the Colts led 13-3 early in the fourth quarter. Jalen Hurts’ 7-yard TD run and Jake Elliott’s PAT won it with just over a minute left. Hurts led the team with 86 yards on the ground and also threw for 190 yards and a touchdown. He clearly did miss top tight end Dallas Goedert, who landed on injured reserve last week.

The team signed defensive tackles Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh last week – neither had played this season – and both were solid in their debuts as Joseph played 40 percent of the defensive snaps and Suh 26 percent and combined for seven tackles, two quarterback hits and a combo sack. Philly is 4-1 ATS in its past five at home.
