The Eagles enter this season’s NFL playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the NFC after marching to an impressive 14-3 regular season record but are winless in each of their past three Wild Card appearances. The Green Bay Packers emerged as one of the surprises of this season while compiling an 11-6 record this season but are winless in their past three dates with playoff-bound opponents and in four of their past five postseason contests.

The Eagles are 5-point favourites on Sunday’s NFL Wild Card odds, while the Packers lag as +210 underdogs on the NFL moneyline and the total sits at 45.5.

NFL Wild Card Point Spread and Betting

Sunday afternoon’s matchup marks the second meeting of the season between these teams and their first playoff clash since 2011. The Eagles rolled to a 34-29 win when they battled the Packers in a season-opening matchup in Brazil and have now earned the win in three of four head-to-head dates since 2016. However, these squads have split a pair of close playoff contests in Philadelphia during the Super Bowl era, capped by the Packers’ narrow 21-16 win on Wild Card Weekend 14 years ago. In fact, in each of their past two playoff meetings, the winning team has advanced at least as far as the NFC Championship game.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers find themselves entering the playoffs on the rebound after closing out their regular season with tough losses to Minnesota and Chicago. Overall, the Pack have seen the three defeats during their current 2-3 run come by a combined margin of just seven points. Green Bay has maintained steady offensive production during that swoon, averaging 28.4 points per game and have scored at least 30 points in five of seven outings. Quarterback Jordan Love has been steady if not prolific. Prior to being used sparingly in last week’s loss to Chicago, Love connected on 10 scoring passes against just one pick over his previous seven outings but has seen just seven of his 25 scoring passes this season come on the road. Love was also hampered at practice by an elbow injury earlier this week, and is joined on a somewhat lengthy injury report by receivers Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, and defenders Quay Walker, Edgerrin Cooper, Evan Williams, and Javon Bullard.

Philadelphia Eagles

The biggest question facing the Eagles is who will be under centre for Sunday’s matchup and how effective will they be. Starting quarterback Jalen Hurts has been sidelined since suffering a finger injury and concussion in the team’s Week 16 loss to Washington, but emerged as a full participant at practice. Backup Kenny Pickett led the Eagles to a big 41-7 win in Dallas in Week 17 before suffering a rib injury that sidelined him last week and limited him at practice this week. With Hurts and Pickett on the shelf, Saquon Barkley has taken charge of this offence. While he failed to reach the end zone last weekend, Barkley marched for 167 rushing yards and has racked up and average of 144.9 rushing yards and seven scoring runs over his past seven games. Barkley also ran for 109 yards and two TDs along with one scoring catch in the Packers’ season-opening loss to Philadelphia in São Paulo.
