Packers vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 16 Odds, Prediction

The Packers fly south after rolling to a 24-12 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football, and now have just one fewer win than the No. 7 seed Washington Commanders. The Dolphins hope to benefit from home cooking after tallying three straight losses, all on the road, capped by last weekend’s 32-29 defeat in Buffalo. However, the Dolphins remain in control of the No. 7 seed in the NFC, and in control of their own playoff destiny.

The betting line for Sunday’s contest is unchanged since opening with the Dolphins favoured by 4 points and commanding 54% of the betting action. The total has vaulted to 50 since opening at 46.5. However, the OVER is backed by just 47% of sports bettors.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sunday afternoon’s matchup at Hard Rock Stadium marks the first meeting between these teams since 2018. The Packers have earned the win in four of their past five dates with the Dolphins, including their past two visits to Miami. These teams have produced uneven results in totals betting, with OVER and UNDER taking turns paying out over the past six games. However, it is the OVER that has prevailed in their past three tilts in Miami.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers look poised to put their mid-season swoon behind them in the wake of Monday night’s win over the Rams. The team’s bye in Week 14 proved to be a tonic for Aaron Rodgers, who has struggled to play through a nagging thumb injury. Rodgers threw for 229 yards, one touchdown, and one pick in last week’s win, and completed 73.3% of pass attempts, his highest completion rate since getting injured. The Green Bay defence also turned in a much-needed stout performance, limiting the Rams to just 156 yards overall, and quarterback Baker Mayfield to just 111 yards, one score, and one pick. The challenge for the Packers is to carry that momentum over into the warm climes of South Florida. And while Rodgers looks to be on the mend, injury concerns linger. Rusher AJ Dillon entered the week in concussion protocol after running for 36 yards and two touchdowns on Monday night. Aaron Jones was also limited on Wednesday as he continues to nurse a knee injury.

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins suddenly find themselves fighting for their playoff live just three weeks after emerging as a threat to win the AFC East title. After scoring just 17 points in each of the first two games on their just-completed road trip, the Dolphins offence bounced back last weekend in Buffalo. But 29 points and an eight-point lead would not be enough to slow down a Bills fourth-quarter rally in the snow, on their way to a 32-29 comeback victory.  However, the Dolphins defence has been a force to be reckoned with on home turf, allowing just 15.3 points per game through their first six home dates. Miami has also limited opposing passers to three total passing throws over the past three home dates while recording five picks and 10 sacks.

The Dolphins offence returns home in good health. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has shown no ill effects from the array of injuries he suffered earlier this season. And the Dolphins receiving corps faces higher expectations now that they are back in warn weather after struggling at times to reel in passes. Tyreek Hill has made just 22 total catches on 37 targets over the past three weeks after catching 30 of 37 over his previous four outings. Jaylen Waddle hasn’t done any better, catching just six of 16 during the team’s 0-3 run after recording 22 receptions on 31 targets over this past previous four games.
