The Green Bay Packers are headed south this Sunday to face the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams are coming off their first losses of the season.
The Cowboys have lost the last three home battles against Green Bay and are coming off their first loss of the season to the Saints. The Green Bay Packers started out the Matt Lafleur era with three wins, against the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos, only to drop a close one to the Eagles on Thursday Night Football.

Injuries and a lackluster second-half performance against the Eagles last week have made the 3-1 Green Bay Packers +3.5 underdogs as they visit the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Green Bay lost at home 34-27 to the Eagles in their last matchup last Thursday night. Dallas could not get things going against the Saints on the road last week, losing 12-10 on Sunday Night Football.
Green Bay Packers
It was an ugly scene at the 1-yard line last week, when Aaron Rodgers and company could not, for the life of them, get a score. They failed on four plays at the 1 and throughout the game could not get the run game going. The team looked utterly exposed by the Eagles defense. So far this season, the Packers are 25th in red zone scoring efficiency at 78.6%. To make matters worse in the loss to Philly at home, the Packers lost Davante Adams to a toe injury.
The Pack has given up 142.3 rushing yards per game this season and has allowed the fourth-most yards per carry (5.0).
One thing that makes this game even more interesting is the presence of a certain Dallas Cowboys wide receiver. Randall Cobb now suits up for the Cowboys in his ninth NFL season, after spending eight years in Green Bay and being one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite targets. This will be the first time he faces his former team.
Cobb was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft. The Packers did not make him an offer when he went into free agency in the offseason, even though he’s 6th all-time in receptions for Green Bay.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys don’t have great recent history when it comes to playing the Green Bay Packers. In fact, they’ve lost seven of their last eight games against them, including playoffs. Out of those eight, the one win the Cowboys did get was a 30-16 win that they followed up with a loss to Green Bay in the divisional round of the playoffs.
The New Orleans Saints took care of business last week against the Cowboys, and they did it without their star quarterback, Drew Brees. Teddy Bridgewater looked excellent. It didn’t help the Cowboys cause that Ezekiel Elliott played arguably one of the worst games in his short career. He averaged just 1.94 yards per carry for a meager total of 35 yards. The Dallas side will want to use this opportunity to take advantage of the defensive and offensive holes in the Green Bay scheme. The Eagles gave them a clinic on how to do just that last week.
