The Kansas City Chiefs added Sammy Watkins (14) to an already-electric offence. They host Green Bay as favourites to close out the NFL pre-season schedule.

In the words of Chandler Bing, “Could there be any more pressure on Patrick Mahomes II?” Pretty sure he said that in one of the season five episodes. In any case, PMII has the weight of the world on him heading into his sophomore season with his final tune up coming this Thursday. Meanwhile, Green Bay’s offense is basically set with another ridiculous turnstile of running backs in place ready to tandem their way through 2018.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Chiefs enter this tilt favoured by -3.5 because Aaron Rodgers will be a non-factor. The veteran QB sat out last week in Oakland and will be a game time decision this week in the Midwest. To Kansas City’s credit, they are also 4-1 against the spread (ATS) on grass and at home through their last five.

Green Bay has one of the most ironed down offenses in the game, but with Rodgers likely sitting, watch for Brett Hundley to see the majority of snaps. He didn’t really impress in his showcase last season and nobody is expected the world to explode with his final preseason performance either. With that, the Pack enters this one as 3.5-point underdogs on our NFL odds board.

Green Bay Packers

There is a story line in this game for the Pack, but it’s not going to change your Thursday night plans. All signs are pointing to Jamal Williams taking the reigns at running back to start the year with Aaron Jones suspended the first two weeks, but it’s not quite that simple.

Williams is coming off a two-week ankle injury, third-stringer Devante Mays has roughed up hamstring and Ty Montgomery left Friday’s game with a foot injury. In other words, watch for Hundley to go to the air a lot with the revolving door of running backs banged up.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs made splashes this offseason adding starters Sammy Watkins to their already stellar offence and linebacker Alex Hitchens to their D. With both sides of the ball looking even stronger, the lone question mark remaining is, can Patrick Mahomes take them to the promise land?

In this, his final preseason start, he should get plenty of practice with the first team. He’ll be facing a deadly Chargers defence next Sunday, so watch for him to be handed the keys to the offence early and often.
