Packers vs. Broncos Point Spread: NFL Week 7 Odds, Prediction

The 2-3 Packers are off their bye week, dropping two straight before then as offensive struggles with their new cast of youngsters are at centre stage. The 1-5 Broncos are showing zero signs of improvement despite bringing in head coach Sean Payton. They last appeared on Thursday Night Football in Week 6 where Russell Wilson and the offence mustered up a total of eight points in a 19-8 defeat at Kansas City.
Kickoff at Empower Field at Mile High gets started at 4:25 p.m. EDT, with oddsmakers pegging the Packers at -1 on the point spread and the total at 44.5 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Denver is one of two teams this season without a win against the spread. Their 0-5-1 record ATS is tied for the worst in the NFL, and giving up a league-worst 33.3 points per game has a lot to do with Denver’s woes. Green Bay enters scoring 22.6 points an outing, so if they can’t get a boost this week against a shoddy Denver defence then the concerns in Lambeau will get validated.
Head-to-head, the Packers own quite an edge over the Broncos — unless the game’s in Denver. Green Bay is 4-1 both ATS and outright in their last five meetings with the Broncos, but Denver has victories in six of their last seven times hosting Green Bay. The over has hit in six of these teams’ last nine meetings too.
Green Bay Packers
Green Bay has combined for a total of 51 points in their last three outings, most recently scoring 13 in a loss at Las Vegas. They’re an offence certainly missing the presence of veteran running back Aaron Jones, who’s been mostly out since Week 1 with a hamstring. Green Bay’s surprisingly gotten very little out of A.J. Dillon in the backfield, putting the pressure on Love and his young cast of receivers. Romeo Doubs’ 228 receiving yards and three touchdown receptions leads the team. Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Christian Watson are Green Bay’s top three receivers and all range from 23 to 24 years old.
The Packers have lost defensive talent over the seasons too, and are feeling it in 2023 with a 22nd-ranked defence when it comes to points allowed (22.6).
Denver Broncos
When it’s typically been the defence at fault for Denver’s struggles this season, they held up their end of the bargain last week at Kansas City by holding the Chiefs to under 20 points. But Russell Wilson accumulated 37 first half passing yards, and a goose egg through 45 minutes of play.
On the glass half-full side, last Thursday was a much-needed improved defensive performance from Denver. The defence gave up 389 yards of offence to Kansas City but came up big when it mattered, holding the Chiefs to one for five in the red zone and four for 13 on third down. The unit’s quite healthy too, with safeties Kareem Jackson and Justin Simmons as well as defensive tackle D.J. Jones all back as full participants Wednesday after battling some injuries.
