It’s the 198th meeting of this rivalry, which includes two playoff games. The Packers hold a 97-94-6 edge in the series. Green Bay had been 19-7 against Chicago (including playoffs) under Coach Mike McCarthy, but he’s not around any longer.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The teams met Week 1 on Sunday night at Lambeau Field and it was a wild 24-23 Packers victory. That seemed rather far-fetched when the Bears were up 20-0 with just over four minutes left in the third quarter. Aaron Rodgers had left in the first half with what looked like a potentially serious knee injury, but he returned and had thee fourth-quarter touchdown passes. The last was a 75-yard catch and run by Randall Cobb with 2:13 to go for the win.

That winning score should have never happened as two plays earlier Rodgers basically hit Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller in the numbers with a pass, but Fuller couldn’t hang on to perhaps the easiest interception chance he’ll ever have. Rodgers finished 20 of 30 for 286 yards and those three scores. It was the Bears debut of star linebacker Khalil Mack, and he was spectacular with a sack, forced fumble and 27-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Green Bay is 12-4 ATS in the past 16 meetings.

Green Bay Packers

Sunday was Green Bay’s first game since firing McCarthy, and the Packers may have played their best game of the season under interim coach and offensive coordinator Joe Philbin. They easily handled the visiting Atlanta Falcons 34-20 to stop a three-game losing streak. Rodgers threw two TD passes and set an NFL record of consecutive passes without an interception. The mark had been 358 by New England’s Tom Brady from 2010-11. Rodgers was 5-for-6 passing on third down with a touchdown and also rushed for 23 yards and two first downs on third.

Green Bay is still mathematically alive for a playoff spot but it would take a near miracle. The Pack are 1-6-1 ATS in their past eight road games.

Chicago Bears

This has been the highest-scoring NFL season ever but the Bears showed that a great defence can still shut down a top offence as on Sunday night Chicago upset the visiting Rams 15-6. High-powered L.A. had just 214 yards, and the Bears picked off Jared Goff four times (Chicago leads the league in takeaways) and turned MVP candidate Todd Gurley into a non-factor.

Chicago QB Mitchell Trubisky returned after missing two games but wasn’t sharp in throwing for 110 yards and three picks. The Bears’ rushing game had its best effort of the season with 194 yards on 35 carries. Depending on what happens in the Vikings-Seahawks game on Monday night, the Bears could clinch the division this week.
