NFL Power Rankings: Miami, Denver Dangerous for Playoff-bound Teams

No movement from 1-10 but Miami and Denver are potential landmines for playoff bound teams. Frank Doyle reports.

1 (-). Green Bay Packers (10-0, 7-3-0 ATS).
If Green Bay doesn’t match the 1972 Dolphins it’ll be the defense that will cost the Packers their place in history.

2 (-). San Francisco 49ers (9-1, 10-0-0 ATS).
Still perfect against the spread. Extraordinary. The Harbaugh Bowl is a real Thanksgiving treat.

3 (-). Baltimore Ravens (7-3, 5-4-1 ATS).
The Bengals scared them, but the Ravens’ D held its ground when it had to.

4 (-). Pittsburgh Steelers (7-3, 5-5-0 ATS).
Pittsburgh is putting a rocky start further and further behind it.

5 (-). Houston Texans (7-3, 6-3-1 ATS).
At last the League will finally discover whether or not Matt Leinart can cut it at this level.

6 (-). New England Patriots (7-3, 5-4-1 ATS).
A mirror of the Packers. The offense has to do twice the work to cover for the defense.

7 (-). New Orleans Saints (7-3, 6-4-0 ATS).
The Saints are good, but they don’t scare teams like they used to.

8 (-). Cincinnati Bengals (6-4, 7-2-1 ATS).
Andy Dalton for rookie of the year. He was so impressive against Baltimore and Pittsburgh in the past two weeks.

9 (-). Chicago Bears (7-3, 6-4-0 ATS).
Here’s the thing: Matt Schaub is a bigger loss for the Texans than Jay Cutler is for the Bears. The Bears were never going to win the NFC North anyway; all Haine has to do is survive until the playoffs.

10 (-). Detroit Lions (7-3, 6-4-0 ATS).
What will it do for Detroit if the Lions can take down the Packers on Thanksgiving? It’s a big ask though.

11 (+1). Oakland Raiders (6-4, 6-4-0 ATS).
Carson Palmer is managing the offense well and the Raiders look good for the AFC West, but it’s hard to quite buy into the Silver and Black going deep into the playoffs.

12 (-1). New York Giants (6-4, 4-5-1 ATS).
The Giants’ home losses are killing them. Killing them.

13 (-). Dallas Cowboys (6-4, 4-6-0 ATS).
Tony Romo has an extraordinary record in November, but that’s not a stat to rely on for sports betting. The Cowboys are pretty much whom they always were – hard to count on.

14 (+2). Atlanta Falcons (6-4, 4-5-1 ATS).
Atlanta is keeping the pressure on New Orleans at the top of the NFC South.

15 (-1). Buffalo Bills (5-5, 5-4-1 ATS).
Buffalo is dropping like a stone. Those games at the start of the year feel as far away as Jim Kelly’s time.

16 (-1). New York Jets (5-5, 4-5-1 ATS).
Did the Jets peak last year? That’s how it’s looking now.

17 (-). Tennessee Titans (5-5, 5-4-1 ATS).
Hasselbeck hurt, CJ2K shut down – Tennessee isn’t really the most multi-dimensional of teams once the marquee players are neutralised.

18 (+3). Denver Broncos (5-5, 5-5-0 ATS).
The single wing offense has never gone away. Miami resurrected it for the Wildcat a few years ago, and now Tim Tebow is running its first cousin at Denver. It won’t last, but Tebow will confound critics for a few more games before he’s caught.

19 (+3). Seattle Seahawks (4-6, 7-3-0 ATS).
Seven wins against the spread. I’ll tell you, that’s pretty good for any darn team.

20 (-2). Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6, 4-6-0 ATS).
The season is a write-off for Tampa. All that’s left is the inquest.

21 (-). Kansas City Chiefs (4-6, 5-5-0 ATS).
Another prime time hammering is in store for the Chiefs this Sunday when Pittsburgh travels to Arrowhead.

22 (+1). Philadelphia Eagles (4-6, 4-6-0 ATS).
If Philly runs the table it might still get to the playoffs. A home game against New England is tough start though.

23 (+7). Miami Dolphins (3-7, 5-5-0 ATS).
Miami isn’t going to the playoffs but the fish are playing great and are a really good underdog bet at Dallas on Thanksgiving.

24 (-5). San Diego Chargers (4-6, 2-8-0 ATS).
Fork please, waiter. This one’s done.

25 (-1). Washington Redskins (3-7, 4-6-0 ATS).
The Redskins have lost six straight. Six!

26 (-1). Arizona Cardinals (3-7, 4-5-1 ATS).
The Cards were out of their league at San Francisco on Sunday.

27 (-1). Jacksonville Jaguars (3-7, 3-6-1 ATS).
The Blaine Gabbert era in Jacksonville will be a short one.

28 (-1). Carolina Panthers (2-8, 5-4-1 ATS).
Carolina isn’t winning, but it’s entertaining and the Panthers hold their own against the spread.

29 (-). Cleveland Browns (4-6, 2-8-0 ATS).
Nobody’s getting a medal for beating the Jags. The Browns stay where they are.

30 (-2). Minnesota Vikings (2-8, 5-5-0 ATS).
Everybody in Minnesota aged about ten years when it looked like Adrian Peterson got hurt.

31 (-). St. Louis Rams (2-8, 2-8-0 ATS).
There’s no way to hide it anymore. The Rams stink.

32 (-). Indianapolis Colts (0-10, 2-8-0 ATS).
Indianapolis is a 3.5 home underdog on Sunday against 2-8 Carolina. What does that tell you?
