Lions vs. Bears Point Spread: NFL Week 18 Odds, Prediction
The Lions lost their third straight game and were eliminated from playoff contention with an ugly 23-10 setback at the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day. Detroit had six turnovers, including five (2 interceptions, 3 fumbles) by Jared Goff.
Chicago lost for just the second time in nine games with a 42-38 defeat at the surging San Francisco 49ers. Caleb Williams threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns while rookie Luther Burden III had a career-high eight receptions for 138 yards.
The Bears, who may be without Burden III on Sunday, will clinch the No. 2 seed in the NFC with a win, but were throttled at Detroit in September, 52-21.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Lions are 1-6 against the spread overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. The Bears, meanwhile, have won six straight at home and are 5-2 against the spread on the NFL odds at Soldier Field this season.
Detroit has played to the over five times in six games.
Detroit Lions
This has been an extremely disappointing end to the 2025 season for Detroit, which has lost three straight overall and four of five on the road.
To lose against a Vikings team whose quarterback, Max Brosmer, had three net yards passing, is indefensible. Goff has thrown for 4,233 yards and 33 touchdowns against seven interceptions, but he was a mess against Minnesota with backup center Kingsley Ekuakun.
Meanwhile, Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery were held to 65 combined yards on 27 carries as the run game was again a shell of its former self. It’s now been six weeks since either back went over 100 yards.
Tackle Taylor Decker missed the Vikings game with an undisclosed illness. He is expected to play on Sunday.
Chicago Bears
Chicago is back in the playoffs after a five-year absence and won their first NFC North crown since 2018. However, if the Bears are to win a postseason game for the first time since the 2010 season, the defence will need to step up.
That may sound weird, as Chicago’s +22 turnover ratio leads the NFL by a wide margin. But the 49ers, who rolled up 32 first downs and nearly 500 yards of total offence, provided a blueprint for how to knock off the Bears.
At the same time, the team has an offence that can go blow-for-blow in a high-scoring matchup for the first time in eons. Williams is 169 yards away from breaking the team’s single-season passing yards record.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Lions vs. Bears?
The Lions have owned Chicago recently, winning three straight and six of seven in the series. September’s meeting was a laugher. Goff had five touchdowns. Gibbs and Montgomery combined for 151 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams each went over 100 receiving yards and combined for four scores.
But that Detroit team has disappeared. Look for the Bears to win another nail-biter, 31-28, as they go into the playoffs with some momentum.
