Jets vs. Seahawks Point Spread: NFL Week 17 Odds, Prediction

There’s added intrigue to this game as Smith used to play for the Jets and they essentially gave up on him. His career has seen a resurgence with the Seahawks.

The Jets were once 7-4 on the year but have since lost four straight games to fall down to 7-8 and out of the playoff picture. Three out of their last five losses featured Zach Wilson at quarterback as well. As for the Seahawks, they’ve lost three straight games and five out of their last six to fall out of the NFC playoff picture themselves. Which of these teams can recover with a win here?

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Jets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games when coming off an ATS loss in the previous matchup and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games played on the road. Although, they are just 8-17 ATS in their last 25 against teams with a losing record. As for the total, the over has cashed in five out of their last six games played on the road against a team with a losing home record.

The Seahawks are 0-6 ATS in their past six games overall and 0-4 ATS when going up against a team with a losing record. The total has gone over in all five of their recent home games against teams with a losing road record.

New York Jets

There’s no question that Mike White will be the starting quarterback this week. Wilson has been able to start in each of the last two games as White was not medically cleared by their doctors. Both of those games resulted in losses with their recent one on Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars being the last straw for Wilson. In a game they had to have, Wilson had thrown for just 92 yards and an interception before getting benched for gadget quarterback Chris Streveler.

White is expected back into the lineup now and will give their offense a completely different feel moving forward. Plus, the fans and players alike prefer to rally around him instead of Wilson, something that’s been painfully obvious in these last couple of weeks. White gives them their best shot at winning because he gives the passing game a shot in the arm. He’s averaging over 317 passing yards per game, so they’ll move the ball – especially against a weak Seahawks defense that’s allowing opposing quarterbacks to post a 93.2 quarterback rating.

Seattle Seahawks

Seattle was 6-3 in their first nine games just like the Jets before quickly falling down to 7-8. Some games just haven’t gone their way and others have seen them simply play poorly. Smith and this offense haven’t been themselves, scoring under 14 points in each of their last two games. They’re now up against the fifth-ranked pass offense, so moving the ball won’t be easy.

Overall, Seattle wasn’t expected to be a playoff team at this point in the season following their Russell Wilson trade. However, things are looking up for them. Smith has been reliable and the running game has been a surprise. If they can finish the season strong, they’ll set themselves up well for the future. However, they’re up against another tough defense here and a win could be a challenge – unless Smith plays better than he has over the last month. He’s averaging just 239 yards and an interception per game over his last three and that won’t cut it on Sunday.
