Jets vs. Patriots Point Spread: NFL Week 11 Odds, Prediction

This tilt arrives at a defining moment for these squads. Both trail the division-leading Miami Dolphins, but not by much. Each has its deficiencies but has shown a propensity to win enough games. This should be quite interesting.

The football gurus see Bill Belichick’s Patriots as -3 favourites on the NFL odds. The over-under is predicted at 38.5 points scored in total.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

When considering New England’s supremacy up until a couple of years ago, it comes as no surprise that they have dominated the tête-à-têtes. New England rides a thirteen-game winning streak against their opponents. Rain or shine, night or day, home or away, the Jets simply lose to the Patriots. Opportunity beckoned in Week 9 at home for New York, but QB Zach Wilson was appalling in a 22-17 loss.

Against the spread in 2022, the Jets have been a refreshingly dependable bet, going 6-3. Robert Saleh’s ensemble wasn’t expected to be good this year. As such, they’ve been pinned as underdogs in eight of their nine games. It’s like people are waiting for the bubble to burst. Betters with the courage to fly with the Jets have been kept happy though.

New England has also fared well ATS, earning a 5-3-1 record. Any team with Belichick as its orchestrator is going to be a tough outing. Of note, they have never outright failed to cover when favoured this season. The only semi-failure was in Week 2 at Pittsburgh when they were -3 favourites and won by exactly that much, 17-14.

New York Jets

The Jets headed into their bye with what was unquestionably their statement win of the season. Granted, the comeback victories at Pittsburgh and Cleveland were memorable for their zaniness but setting a bullying defensive tone against the mighty Bills was a sight to see. Winning 20-17 had MetLife stadium jumping and sent coach Saleh into WWE flex mode.

The win was even more unexpected given that sensational RB Breece Hall’s season ended a few prior due to injury. Michael Carter took on the load. The early goings were tough, but he ended the game with a healthy 6.3 yards per carry, gaining critical first downs in the process. New York is most impressive defensively, sneaking into the top 10 or just outside it in total yards allowed per game (7th), passing yards allowed per game (9th), points allowed per game (10th), and rushing yards allowed per game (11th).

New England Patriots

The Patriots also entered their bye riding the sweet high of victory, although theirs’ was a 26-3 thumping of the Colts. But that was a different Indy squad, with Sam Ehlinger at QB and Frank Reich coaching his final game, although he didn’t know it at the time.

New England is similar to its rival this week insofar as the majority of its strengths are on the defensive side of the ball. They rank 6th in points allowed per game but strangely are a middle-of-the-pack unit in several other categories. Where teams can attack them is on the ground. The Pats give up a slightly alarming 120 yards per game. Conversely, Pro Bowl candidate LB Matthew Judon leads the NFL in sacks with 11.5 at this stage. The jury is still out on QB Mac Jones, and the Jets defence might not help his cause.
