The New England Patriots will be favoured by more than two touchdowns for the second consecutive game when they take on the New York Jets in Week 3. This is the miss-match of the week, and the largest home favourite on the board at Sports Interaction.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Patriots have covered two large numbers in this early portion of the schedule, now they’ll try to do it once again.

The Pats enter this game on a six-game winning streak against the Jets and a point difference of 119, for an average of 19.8 points per game. The largest margin of victory was 38 points over that span, the smallest was five points.

Last season the Patriots earned their 19th series sweep of the Jets and third straight overall – the 10th under Bill Belichick.

The Pats are 14-3 straight up in the last 17 regular season games played against the Jets at Gillette Stadium.

Belichick is 89-30 all-time versus the AFC East for a winning percentage of .748, and is 28-10 versus the Jets in 38 games. Tom Brady is an impressive 23-4 in 27 starts versus the Jets.

New York Jets

With injuries to Quarterbacks Sam Darnold (mono) and Trevor Siemian (ankle) the ball is in the hands of Luke Falk who will make his first career NFL start versus the Patriots. That is quite the assignment for a pivot that was on his first active roster last week against the Browns. Falk stepped in for the injured Siemian and went 20-of-25 for 198 yards against Cleveland, but could only lead the Jets to three points. Free agent David Fales was signed Tuesday to back-up Falk. Fales was in the Dolphins system when Adam Gase coached in Miami.

The Jets haven’t gotten the boost rushing the ball they thought they were going to get when they signed Le’Veon Bell. Through two games, the team is ranked 25th in rushing and Bell has 128 yards on 38 carries. The team is only averaging 9.5 points per game, that mark is tied for 30th in the league.

New England Patriots

The defending Super Bowl champions are showing zero signs of any type of hangover, in fact they are showing the league the opposite.

Through two games this season they have put 76 points on the board which ties with the 2007 team for the most points through two games of the season. And they are doing it on both sides of the ball as the Pats also became the fourth team in the Super Bowl era to allow three points or fewer through the first two games.

The offense was bolstered by the debut of newly signed wide receiver Antonio Brown last week. The 31-year-old veteran caught four passes, tallying 56 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The team has 846 total yards in the first two games, averaging 423 yards per contest. The defence is ranked number one overall allowing only 246 yards against.
