Jets vs. Dolphins Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction
The Jets dealt the Houston Texans a sever setback in their bid to return to postseason play with last week’s 30-6 victory to snap a five-game straight up and against the spread losing streak. Meanwhile, the Dolphins squandered a golden opportunity to take a big step towards clinching their first division crown in 15 years with Monday night’s stunning 28-27 loss to Tennessee that brought a halt to Miami’s six-game SU home win streak.
The Dolphins look to the weekend perched as 8.5-point home favourites on the NFL Week 15 odds. The Jets are lengthy +310 moneyline bet to snap a seven-game SU losing streak in Miami, and the total is listed at 37.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Jets have enjoyed little success in recent trips to Miami, scoring six or fewer points in three of their past visits, capped by a 11-6 defeat in Week 18 of last season, and did no better when they hosted the Dolphins in a crushing 34-13 defeat on Thanksgiving Weekend. However, the Jets did get a lift from Zach Wilson’s return to action last weekend, as the much-maligned pivot led the squad to their most decisive victory in over a year. However, this team unlikely to enjoy the benefit of bad weather this time around, particularly against a Dolphins squad looking to atone for Monday’s loss to Tennessee.
Indeed, the Dolphins have been a scoring machine on home turf this season, averaging 36.8 points per game. However, Miami has emerged as a consistent disappointment to loyal sports bettors when facing Jets at home while favoured by eight or more points, covering just twice in eight meetings since 1984.
New York Jets
Zach Wilson looks to be once again firmly installed as the Jets starting pivot after completing a career-high 75% of pass attempts for 301 yards and two touchdowns. Of course, Wilson could benefit from more protection from his offensive line, which allowed him to be sacked four times last weekend, and permitted 40 total sacks over the past eight games. Garrett Wilson remained Zach’s favourite target while pulling in nine passes for 108 yards. However, scoring catches remain rare for Wilson, who has recorded just one TD since Week 2. Breece Hall also got in on the act, adding 86 receiving yards and one touchdown catch to his 40 rushing yards. That marked Hall’s third scoring reception of the season and the third time he has topped 100 total yards. However, Hall’s available for Sunday remains uncertain after being limited in practice this week by an ankle injury.
Miami Dolphins
Now just two games up on the second-place Buffalo with just four games remaining including a season-ending visit from the Bills, the Dolphins will be eager to give themselves a little breathing room by getting back into the win column on Sunday. But the key to making that happen will be avoiding both the type of slow start they had against Tennessee and looking past the Jets to next week’s crucial date with Dallas. For the first time this season, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa failed to find the end zone against the Tennessee while getting sacked a season-high five times. Raheem Mostert picked up the slack, running for 96 yards and two touchdowns. However, injuries in the backfield remain a concern, with Mostert, Tyreek Hill, and De’Von Achane all missing time at practice this week due to injury.
