The New York Jets happen to be the only team without a victory under their belt this season, sitting at 0-9 on the year. They good news is they are coming off of their bye week and now head over to face off against the 2-7 Los Angeles Chargers. The bad news is they’ll again be without Sam Darnold. Will the Jets finally pick up their first win or will the Chargers get their third victory of the season?

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Jets are 0-9 SU and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall. They are also 2-9 ATS in their last 11 on the road. The total has gone under in four of the Jets’ last five games.

As for the Chargers, they are 5-1 SU in their last six games on a three game SU losing streak. They’re also 1-5 ATS in their last six at home facing teams with losing records. The total has gone under in six of the Chargers’ last eight games when hosting an East Coast team.

New York Jets

The Jets severely lack talent on both sides of the ball and that gets even more prominent when Sam Darnold is unable to suit up. Darnold is not expected to play in this matchup, which means that veteran quarterback Joe Flacco is getting another week as the starter. Their offensive didn’t look half bad in their last game against the New England Patriots but they weren’t able to close the game out, losing 30-27 on a last second field goal by the Patriots. Besides having a terrible and non-explosive offense, their defense is ranked 27th in the league. They have been unable to stop anybody that they have faced and their offense isn’t near good enough to hide that.

The only hope here is that the Chargers, who continue to lose one-score games, will struggle again and give the Jets an opening.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are one of the most talented 2-7 teams out there right now. Almost all of their games have been decided by one score but they continue to fall short each week. On the bright side, they do have a future star in rookie quarterback Justin Herbert as he once again proved that he can take this offense to new heights. He threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns with an interception but also rushed for a touchdown last week against Miami. Outside of Herbert, they ran the ball 25 times for 89 yards, which just isn’t good enough.

This will be their easiest matchup of the season. The challenge is do you really want to lay double-digits with a Chargers team that constantly shoots themselves in the foot? They should win but covering is a question mark.
