Jets vs. Cardinals Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction
Divisional doormats for the past two years the Cardinals have enjoyed an impressive resurgence this season and finally seized sole possession of first place with last week’s dominating 29-9 victory over the Chicago Bears. The Jets arrive in Arizona looking to build on last week’s 21-13 win over Houston on Thursday Night Football that snapped a five-game slide but must find a way to spark a moribund attack that has generated just 17.3 points per game during their 1-5 run.
Despite these teams seemingly heading in different directions, the Jets head to the desert perched as narrow 1.5-point road favourites on the NFL Week 10 odds board. The Cardinals lag as attractive +105 underdogs on the NFL moneyline and the total is pegged at 46.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Sunday’s rare matchup marks just the eighth time these teams have met since 1976 and just the fourth all-time meeting between these squads in the Arizona desert. The Cardinals have dominated while claiming victory in their two most recent dates with the Jets, outscoring New York by a combined 58-13 margin including a decisive 28-3 when the Jets last visited Arizona eight years ago. At least one of these teams has scored seven or fewer points in four of their past six clashes, generating a 5-1 run for the UNDER in totals betting. The Cardinals have also seen the UNDER pay out in four of their past seven contests and have emerged as a reliable bet, going 6-3 against the spread this season including three outright victories as betting underdogs. Things have not gone so well for the Jets, who have lost outright in three of their past four as betting chalk and failed to cover in five of six overall while scoring more than 20 points just once over that stretch.
New York Jets
It has proven to be a massively disappointing first half to the season for the Jets, who were expected to challenge for the top of the AFC East standings and make a deep playoff run. Instead, New York passes the halfway mark sporting a dismal 3-6 record and a rotten attack that ranks 25th in the NFL with just 19 points scored per game. The Jets’ disappointing start has brought a speedy end to Aaron Rodgers’ honeymoon in the Big Apple. However, it is tough to entirely fault the future Hall-of-Famer for this team’s woes. Yes, Rodgers had to shake off plenty of rust after missing virtually all of last season due to injury and hit bottom while tossing a six picks over a three-game stretch during the team’s recent 0-5 run. However, Rodgers has been steady in the past two weeks, connecting on 65% of pass attempts for five total scores while avoiding the pick, highlighted by a 3-TD effort two weeks ago.
Arizona Cardinals
Arguably the biggest surprise of the season, the Cardinals once again silenced their naysayers with an impressive performance in last week’s 29-9 rout of the Bears. The win holds greater significance considering the narrow margins by which this team has achieved success. Prior to last week’s victory, the Cards’ three previous wins came by a combined margin of just four points, bringing the number of games settled by just one score to five. But unlike their three previous wins, which they claimed with heart stopping fourth-quarter rallies, Arizona seized control early last week, racking up a double-digit lead by halftime that they would not relinquish. Hampered by injuries in the past two seasons, Kyler Murray has displayed healthy vintage form so far this season. While he failed to find the end zone for the first time this season, he demonstrated veteran cool while leading the Cardinals offence on four long scoring drives last week. Indeed, last week it was the ground game’s chance to shine, with James Conner topping 100 yards for the fourth time this season while tight end Trey McBride generated his two scoring runs of the campaign.
