Jets vs. Broncos Point Spread: NFL Week 3 Odds, Prediction

Rookie Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is reportedly dealing with a groin injury suffered in Week 1 but appears to be ready for Sunday in Denver.

The injury bug is starting to hit the Broncos too, as receiver Jerry Jeudy, defensive back Ronald Darby, and linebackers Bradley Chubb at Josey Jewell have all went down and will miss Week 3.

Kickoff at Empower Field at Mile High goes at 4:05 CST.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Both teams’ records are opposite in both wins and losses in the standings, and against the spread. Denver’s the perfect 2-0 with both their games going under the total. New York’s 0-2 with the under a perfect 2-0 as well. The result: the lowest over-under of the week at 41.5.

Both clubs rank in the top 10 in yards allowed per play (Denver fifth at 4.6 and New York 10th at 5.3). But it’s the Broncos with an offence that’s in the top half of yards per play (11th with 6.2) while the Jets’ O sits in 28th with 4.6 yards per play. Vic Fangio’s club is solid on both sides of the ball, and should feast on another rookie quarterback this weekend.

Oddsmakers have the Broncos as 10.5-point favourites.

New York Jets

Last week’s 25-6 loss versus New England was a “welcome to the NFL” moment for Wilson after the rookie tossed four interceptions and completed 19 of 33 passes in the loss. The Jets actually had 336 total yards to the Patriots’ 260 but six turnovers (to zero) will burn any NFL team.

The Jets had a solid ground game in Week 2, rushing for 152 yards on 31 attempts. Michael Carter led all backs with 59 yards on 11 carries with Ty Johnson reaching 50 yards on 12 rushes. On defence, C.J. Mosley had a game-high 10 tackles and Shaq Lawson made three tackles for losses.

Denver Broncos

Denver’s allowed 26 points this season — 13 to the Giants in Week 1, and 13 at the Jaguars last Sunday. Most impressively the Broncos possessed the ball for nearly 39 minutes and held Trevor Lawrence to 114 passing yards and 189 total yards of offence in their latest win.

Courtland Sutton, who tore his ACL one year ago to the day, had a game-high 159 receiving yards on nine receptions and is starting to emerge as a true number-one NFL receiver. To no surprise, Sutton’s quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was extremely efficient too, throwing for 328 yards and two scores on 26 of 34 passing.
