Jaguars vs. Raiders Point Spread: NFL Week 9 Odds, Prediction

Both clubs are coming off bye weeks that came at a good time, as each team suffered the worst losses of the season before the week off. Jacksonville fell flat in London, getting blown out 35-7 by the LA Rams while the Raiders were shutout 31-0 at Kansas City.

With a week off to make corrections, Jacksonville should be coming fresh into this weekend with a chance to keep pace in the AFC Wild-Card race. The 4-3 Jaguars are currently just outside the playoff picture but a game in hand over the 5-3 clubs holding down the final spots. The 2-5 Raiders are at a bit of a crossroads; they can either bounce back from the embarrassing shutout loss and be a thorn in the side of opponents down the road… or roll over and fall into one of the top spots in the upcoming NFL Draft again.

Kickoff at Allegiant Stadium gets going at 4:05 p.m. EST, and the Jaguars are currently a three-point road favourite with the total set at 45.5 on the Week 9 NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Jacksonville enters this weekend having won just two of their last 14 road outings. The Raiders are 2-7 in their last nine at home, indicating something has to give in Week 9. This begins a stretch of four road games in five weeks for the Jags, so if they’re to turn around their road fortunes it definitely starts with handling business as a road favourite in Vegas. Jacksonville is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings with the Raiders, but just 2-4 outright in the most recent six games. Six of the last seven Jaguars–Raiders contests with the Raiders as the home team have gone under the total.

The Raiders are both 2-5 outright and ATS this season. Four of the Raiders’ five losses have come via double-digits, including their last two losses both being by 30-plus points. If that trend continues against Jacksonville, there’s no reason to continue backing Pete Carroll’s squad.

Jacksonville Jaguars

You could argue the 4-3 Jaguars are their own worst enemy. Now none of the little things were going to flip the outcome of their 35-7 loss the last time they took the field, but the numbers don’t lie. Heading into their bye week, Jacksonville had a league-high 83 penalties. Brian Thomas Jr.’s nine drops still leads the NFL, and he’s not the only receiver the Jaguars need to connect with more often. 2025 2nd-overall pick Travis Hunter needs the ball more, and that appears to be in the short-term forecast. Hunter had a season-high 14 targets in Jacksonville’s last outing and turned them into eight catches for 101 yards and a score.

Thomas Jr. (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday’s practice while safety Eric Murray (neck) did not practice. Murray exited during Week 7’s loss with the neck injury, and his status for Las Vegas doesn’t look so good if he’s still unable to practice after the bye week.

Las Vegas Raiders

The great news in Las Vegas this week is tight end Brock Bowers is “ready to roll.” Bowers has missed three games for the Raiders and his absence has been felt after going off for 112 catches and 1,194 in his rookie season. It’s no coincidence this Las Vegas offence has accumulated 26 total points in the three games Bowers has missed. Star defensive end Maxx Crosby did not practice Wednesday due to back spasms but is expected to suit up this weekend too. Crosby missed most of the Raiders’ most recent game with a knee injury but isn’t listed with that injury on the report.

Despite selecting Ashton Jeanty sixth overall in this year’s draft, Las Vegas ranks 27th with 93.7 rushing yards per game. Now most of the issues fall on the what’s considered a porous offensive line, but this offence still needs more out of Jeanty who has 96 yards on 29 carries his last two games. Jacksonville is a top-10 run defence in yards allowed per carry, so it’s not going to get any easier for this struggling Raiders offence.
