At this point in the season, there are a couple of games each week that only really interest the betting or fantasy public – and Sunday’s encounter between the Jacksonville Jaguars and host New York Jets is at the top of the list. The teams have a combined five victories in 24 games this season, with the Jaguars having already fired their head coach and the Jets having locked in yet another season with double-digit losses.

This game is a pick’em on the NFL odds, with a total of 41.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This one is virtually too close for the oddsmakers to call, but Sports Interaction bettors feel differently. They like the Jets at a 75 per cent clip in what amounts to a Pick ‘Em. And you’ll need a strong stomach to pull the trigger on either side here, with the Jets and Jaguars boasting identical 4-10 against the spread records on the season. Jacksonville comes in on a five-game non-cover streak, while New York has just one cover in its last five home games.

In a showdown between two of the worst offences in the NFL, it’s no surprise that the total is on the low side at 41.5. Jacksonville has been one of the league’s best Under plays all season long, coming in at 3-11 O/U and having come in below the number in eight of its previous nine games. The Jets, on the other hand, have gone 8-3 O/U in their last 11 games after opening the season with three consecutive Under results.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are still playing to win – at least, if you believe the message coming from the Jacksonville camp. And that means heavy reliance on the team’s top offensive stars. That could mean a three-man show this weekend, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence likely to lean on running back James Robinson and wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. The depth behind Robinson is razor-thin, while receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. is questionable with a shoulder injury.

New York Jets

This matchup between the top two picks in the 2021 NFL Draft couldn’t be more underwhelming – and Zach Wilson’s season-to-date performance has a lot to do with that. The No. 2 overall pick has looked completely overmatched for most of the season, throwing for just 1,911 yards with six touchdowns and 11 interceptions through his first 10 NFL games. And his completion rate of 56.2 per cent is the lowest among QBs with 300 attempts this season.
