Jaguars vs. Colts Point Spread: NFL Week 17 Odds, Prediction
The penultimate week of the NFL regular season features many must-win games for teams around the league. One of these games will feature an AFC South divisional game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Indianapolis Colts.
After a hot start to the season, the Colts have cooled off considerably and are now in grave danger of missing the playoffs.
These teams met just a few weeks ago in Jacksonville, a game the Jaguars won by a score of 36-19. This was the game where Colts quarterback Daniel Jones went down with a season-ending injury, which led to them signing Philip Rivers.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
The Jags enter this one as clear 6.5-point road favourites on the NFL odds. On paper, this point spread is more than fair, given that the Colts have lost their last five games in a row, while the Jags have won their last six games. Further, Jacksonville is an impressive 10-5 ATS this season and 4-3 ATS on the road, while Indianapolis is 8-7 ATS overall and 4-4 ATS at home.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars enter this game with a record of 11-4, having most recently beaten the Denver Broncos in Week 16 by a score of 34-20. Jacksonville has already secured its spot in the playoffs, but needs to finish strong, as they are very close to clinching the AFC South while still being in contention for the No. 1 seed.
As mentioned, Jacksonville has won six games in a row, but more impressively, has won these games by an average margin of 18.8 points per game. They have their fair share of injuries, but none that would suggest they won’t go into Indianapolis and come out with another statement win.
Indianapolis Colts
The Colts enter this game with a record of 8-7 and are in third place in the AFC South division. As it stands, Indianapolis can no longer win the division after their most recent loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 16.
Indianapolis’ playoff hopes are hanging by a thread as they are currently the eighth seed in the AFC. The Colts are trailing the final Wild Card team by 2.0 games, which simply means they must have a ton of help to have any hope of making the postseason.
NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Jaguars vs. Colts?
These teams may be divisional rivals, but they are going in completely different directions. The Jaguars are arguably one of the hottest teams in the league, while the Colts have completely fallen apart.
The story surrounding Rivers’ return to the NFL has been a good one, but the offence has been inconsistent while the Colts’ defence has been poor over the last couple of weeks.
Given that the Jaguars have a top 10 offence and defence, plus are 4-3 ATS on the road, Jacksonville should win this one somewhere in the region of 34-24.
