Jaguars vs. Chiefs Point Spread: NFL Week 10 Odds, Prediction

The Jacksonville Jaguars had lost five games in a row and looked like they would make it six when they fell behind the Las Vegas Raiders 17-0 last week. They did not give up hope, though, as they rallied for a victory. For a young team that’s trying to rebuild, that could be a huge.

The test gets much tougher this week, though, as the Jags go on the road to face the Kansas City Chiefs. Can the Jags stay competitive in this game or will the Chiefs send them back to their losing ways?

Kansas City is a heavy 9.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 51.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Jaguars are 3-6 straight up on the season and 1-3 straight up in road games. Those road struggles have prolonged for quite some time as this team has won just once in their last 21 away games. Looking at the total, the over has cashed in each of their last six away games.

As for the Chiefs, they have won 17 of their last 21. However, they have failed to cover in four of their last five as a favourite and six straight versus AFC foes.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars looked dead in the water when they trailed the Raiders 17-0 in the second quarter last week but stormed back to beat them 27-20. Jacksonville shut out the Raiders in the second half and posted 17 points of their own after halftime to come back and win. Trevor Lawrence was very accurate, completing 25 of 31 passes without an interception, collecting 235 passing yards. The Jaguars needed to see improvements from him, and they got them. Lawrence also rushed for 53 yards, while his Jacksonville and Clemson teammate Travis Etienne ran for 109 yards.

The Jags did allow 146 receiving yards to Raiders receiver Davante Adams and dug themselves a 17-0 hole to start. If they don’t start games better, they’re going to get blown out of the water by a much more competent team.

Kansas City Chiefs

The stats were incredible in the Chiefs’ 20-17 overtime win over the Tennessee Titans. Kansas City threw for 422 yards (including four sacks which are counted as negative passing yards) and ran for only 77. Patrick Mahomes threw 68 passes, completing 43 of them for 446 yards. Even so, Kansas City scored just 17 points in regulation time because Tennessee was willing to allow lots of short completions. The Chiefs could not consistently score when they got past the 50-yard line.

The main thing to note here is that the Titans seem to have the Chiefs number. Over the years, they’ve been a big thorn in their side. The Jags, on the other hand, are one of the weaker squads in the AFC.

What some may wonder is whether the Chiefs are in a letdown spot. After facing the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans – essentially, a trio of rivals – maybe the Chiefs come out a bit sleepy in this one.
