Oddsmakers are expecting Sunday’s encounter between the Jaguars and the host Bills to be the lowest-scoring affair of the week – and it’s hard to argue with the logic, as both teams look to improve their wonky offences.

The Jaguars come in on a five-game losing streak during which they’ve scored more than 20 points just once. Buffalo has been no better, averaging a league-low 13.7 points per game.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Neither of these teams come into the weekend as strong cover options. The Jaguars haven’t covered in six consecutive games and are just 1-3-1 ATS in their previous five vs. teams with losing records. The Bills are just 3-7 ATS in their past 10 after covering in their previous game, and have failed to cover four straight following a SU win of 14 or more points. The road team has covered in six of the previous eight head-to-head meetings.

The teams will play to a rock-bottom total of 37 – and both sides are in the midst of conflicting totals trends. Jacksonville has gone 5-1 O/U in its last six games against teams below .500, but has converted the under in 13 of its past 18 against AFC opponents. Buffalo has been a tremendously profitable over play at home (15-5 O/U in its last 20) but has exceeded the number just twice in its past eight games overall.

Jacksonville Jaguars

One thing is for certain: The Jaguars are prepared to let Leonard Fournette eat. The standout running back has been a one-man backfield since returning from a lingering hamstring injury, racking up a whopping 59 touches over his past two games. But that tactic actually worked against the Jaguars last time out, as Fournette managed just 21 yards on 14 carries in the second half of Jacksonville’s 20-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills will welcome rookie quarterback Josh Allen back to action this weekend – and his return should give the Buffalo offence a much-needed shot in the arm down the stretch. Buffalo reached the 20-point plateau three times in Allen’s six starts before he went down with an elbow injury, while managing just 20 points combined in three games without him before last week’s 41-point outburst in a one-sided win over the New York Jets.
