The Bears improved to 3-2 with last week’s 36-10 home win against Carolina, while the Jaguars picked up their first win of the season as they slipped by Indianapolis 37-34 at home.

Chicago opened as a 1.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with the total set at 43.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This is the first meeting between the franchise’s since Week 16 of the 2020 season. The Bears took that game in a 41-17 blowout, but you won’t see many familiar faces. That was still the Mitch Trubisky era in Chicago, while Jacksonville started former NFL journeyman Mike Glennon.

The Jags remain winless on the road this season, with their road losing streak sitting at six games dating to last season. They’re 2-3 against the spread for the year, but they’ve managed to go 5-1 ATS in their last six games played in October. Jacksonville leans toward low scoring games, with the total going Under in six of their last nine games overall and four of their last five against NFC opponents.

Interestingly, Chicago a perfect 3-0 on the road this season, but they’ve lost both of their home games. They have been a solid option for bettors, however, going 3-1-1 ATS, including covers in their last two games. The Bears have also been the play at home, going 6-0 ATS in their last six games played at Soldier Field.

Jacksonville Jaguars

A miserable season got a little more bearable for the Jaguars last week as Trevor Lawrence led the team to their first win with his best game of the season on his 25th birthday. Lawrence completed 28 of 34 pass attempts (82.4 per cent) for 371 yards, two TDs and an interception. It was Lawrence’s second game this season with over 200 passing yards and the first with a completion percentage better than 57.1. Tank Bigsby had a monster night, rushing for 101 yards and two TDs on 13 carries. It’s worth watching the depth chart, as Bigsby seems to be challenging Travis Etienne as the No. 1 option.

Late game collapses have been a major concern for Jacksonville this season and it almost cost them again versus the Colts. Indianapolis scored 24 points in the fourth quarter while playing without quarterback Anthony Richardson, running back Jonathan Taylor and centre Ryan Kelly. That came a week after the Jaguars were shut out in the fourth quarter and blew a late lead against Houston. Bottom line, if you’re live betting, you might want to fade Jacksonville if they’re leading late in the game.

Chicago Bears

Caleb Williams easily had his best game as a pro last week, completing 20 of 29 pass attempts for 304 yards and two TDs. D.J. Moore caught both scoring passes and finished with 104 receiving yards, while D’Andre Smith added 73 rushing yards and a touchdown. Swift was a dual threat on the ground and in the air, ending the day with 120 yards from scrimmage.

There’s hope that this Bears offence could be coming alive. Last week, Chicago’s offence hit the 400-yard mark for the first time this season and Williams’ 126.2 passer rating was the highest by a Bears rookie since the 1970 merger. It’s the growing connection between Williams and Moore that seems to be making the difference. In the first four games of the year, Williams was 5-of-29 (17 per cent) with three interceptions on passes with at least 15 yards in the air. In Week 5, he was a perfect 4-for-4 for 108 yards and two TDs on deep throws.
