Jaguars vs. 49ers Point Spread: NFL Week 4 Odds, Prediction

The San Francisco 49ers look to extend their season-opening win streak to four games when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in NFL Week 4 betting action at Levi’s Stadium.

The Niners claimed sole possession of first place in the NFC West with last weekend’s narrow 16-15 victory over Arizona but still have work to do to overcome a 3-5 SU swoon on home turf.

The Jaguars travel to the Bay Area looking to build on last weekend’s 17-10 win over the visiting Houston Texans, but face a huge challenge to snap a dismal run on the road, where they have lost three straight, and 12 of 13 since November 2023.

The 49ers lead the way as 3.5-point favourites on the NFL Week 4 odds. The Jaguars are pegged as +150 NFL moneyline underdogs and the total is set at 47.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Niners have dominated in recent meetings with the Jaguars, tallying five straight decisive wins, both straight up and against the spread, capped by a lopsided 34-3 win in Jacksonville in their most recent date in November 2023.

Overall, the 49ers have claimed victory by an average margin of 22.2 points per game during their 5-0 head-to-head run, and have surrendered more than 10 points to the Jags just once in their past six meetings.

Stingy defence has also played a crucial role in the 49ers’ undefeated start, with the team allowing just 16.3 points per game, second best in the NFL. The Jaguars defence has also risen to the occasion, limiting opponents to just 10 points in each of their home victories during a 2-1 start.

However, the Jags have surrendered 25.3 points per game during their 0-3 run on the road, and have been lit up for 36.3 points per game while dropping four straight on the road to NFC opponents.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars have enjoyed a steady start to the current campaign after enduring a forgettable 2024 season that ended with eight defeats in their final 10 games. And while wins have come at a premium, the squad has tightened up on defence, allowing an average of just 16.5 in their past six overall contests.

But snapping their epic road swoon in San Francisco will be a challenge, particularly for quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who has compiled mediocre numbers through the first three weeks, completing just 55.8 per cent of pass attempts for just four TDs against four picks.

Complicating matters for Lawrence is a rash of injuries impacting the Jags offence including the absence of prized rookie receiver Joshua Cephus, the uncertain status of receiver Dynami Brown, who was limited at practice with a shoulder injury, as well as ailments that have impacted the depth of the offensive line.

Considering the steady performance of the Niners’ fifth-ranked pass defence, expect running back Travis Etienne Jr. to have another busy day and to pay out as a -115 bet on the NFL player props to top 51.5 rushing yards.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers had their hands full with a stingy Cardinals defence in last weekend’s narrow victory and could be in for more of the same against hobbled but improved Jaguars lineup. That task will be no easier considering the team’s injury woes under centre. Brock Purdy has not seen action since Week 1 due to shoulder and toe injuries, and his backup Mac Jones was also limited at practice this week due to a knee injury.

Media reports have suggested that Purdy is close to returning, but whoever gets the call under centre will have to work with a receiving corps decimated by injuries, with both Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall, and Jordan Watkins all missing time at practice due to injury.

On a positive note, Christian McCaffrey looks to have put last year’s injury woes behind him. In addition to leading the team with 176 rushing yards, McCaffrey has also averaged 71 receiving yards per game, and offers value as a -140 bet to compile OVER 42.5 receiving yards on Sunday.
