Two NFC East teams with bad 3-11 records go head to head at FedEx Field for Week 16. The Giants beat the Dolphins last week, which put the Miami team record at….3-11. There was more to cheer about during that win for Giants fans than the final score. It was also, potentially, the last time they’d get to see Eli Manning play at home.

The sound in MetLife Stadium was deafening, as the crowd showed their appreciation for the 16-year career of two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning, who was clearly touched by the response. Manning led his team to a 36-30 win over Miami.

The New York Giants may be coming off a convincing win, but they are still underdogs on the road for this one, opening at +2.5 against the Washington Redskins. The Over/Under opened at 42.

New York Giants

If it was Manning’s last game in front of his home crowd, it could not have gone better for the veteran. He completed 71.4% of his passes for 283 yards, threw two touchdowns passes and finished with a decent passer rating of 87.9. After the game, Manning spoke to the press about what is likely his final game at MetLife Stadium.

“Obviously, I don’t know what the future is. I don’t know what lies next week, let alone down the road. Obviously, the support and the fans, their ovation, chanting my name from the first snap to the end, I appreciate that. I appreciate them always and all my teammates coming up to me. It’s a special day, a special win and one I’ll remember.”

Saquon Barkley has not had the best second year. For the first time since the second week of the season, Barkley ran for over 100 yards. He got the ball 24 times and ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns. To add an exclamation mark to his comeback game, he caught four passes for 31 yards. Hopefully he can start showing that level of play next season.

Washington Redskins

Dwayne Haskins is doing his best to prove his value to the Redskins organization, and he’s had moments of greatness, but was not good enough to get a win in Week 15 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington was bested by Philly in a 37-27 loss but Haskins had the best game of his young career, throwing for 261 yards.

One of the highlights for Washington in that game was a beautiful 75-yard touchdown pass that Haskins got to WR Terry McLaurin. Haskins also tried out his own run game, and got 23 yards.

What it came down to in the loss was Washington’s constant struggle to stop the run. The Eagles averaged 5.6 yards per carry in the game and the Redskins’ 27th ranked run defense were helpless to slow it down. Don’t expect them to do any better against Saquon Barkley, who may be finally heating up. They also allowed Philly to convert on 3rd downs in a huge way, letting them convert 11 of 16. You can’t win games if you can’t stop the other team from moving the chains so consistently.
