Both the New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams are making their way from New York to Los Angeles for the Rams first day game ever at SoFi Stadium. It’s unfortunate for Los Angeles that no fans will be in attendance Sunday, as it could be a fun one for the home team.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The 0-3 Giants rank second-last in total offence and appear to be the perfect bounce-back opponent for the 2-1 Rams who gave up 35 points in Week 3. Oddsmakers are well aware, with the Rams getting 12.5 points as a home favourite.

The Giants are 8-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 against L.A., winning outright seven times. It’s tough to see New York earning their first win of the year out of the West coast, but that 12.5 number might be within their realm. Problem is, New York’s still without running back Saquon Barkley and the Giants have averaged 124 rushing yards in their last 10 versus Los Angeles.

The over’s sitting at 47 for this matchup, and while Sean McVay’s club has been scoring just under 30 points a game, can the Giants score more than the 12 points they’re averaging?

New York Giants

It’s been a rough start for Daniel Jones and the Giants’ offence. New York’s averaging .217 points per play, ranking only behind their stadium partner in the Jets. Without Barkley, New York’s averaging 3.2 yards per carry and only have one receiver with over 100 total yards.

Joe Judge’s team isn’t holding put though, as veteran running back Devonta Freeman made his Giants debut in Week 3, and Alfred Morris is now on the team’s practice squad. Both have multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons under their belts but have their best days behind them.

Not much is going right for New York, which explains why they’ve dropped 13 of their last 15.

Los Angeles Rams

After trailing by 25 in the second half, the Rams barely lost their first match of 2020–21 after a last-second Buffalo Bills touchdown.

Now back at home, Brandon Staley’s defence should be eager to pounce on the lowly Giants, who gave up six quarterback hits in Week 3. Aaron Donald’s got eight quarterback hits himself this season, so to no surprise he’ll be a handful for New York.

On the other side of the ball, Jared Goff’s averaging nearly 300 passing yards per game and has a run game to compliment his air attack. The Rams are averaging 170 rushing yards per game thanks to the efforts of running backs Malcom Brown and Darrell Henderson. All signs point to L.A.’s offence continuing their success.
