The Jaguars got off to a hot start and seemed to be turning the page while surprising folks too, but a three-game losing streak has them down to 2-4 and several games behind the AFC South lead.

New York yet again pulled through in the clutch, this time overcoming a 10-point deficit to Baltimore and going a lead-changing touchdown with under two minutes remaining. Jacksonville was on the wrong side of that scenario in Week 6, allowing a 32-yard score with 17 seconds remaining to lose 34-27 at Indianapolis.

Kickoff at TIAA Bank Field goes at 1 p.m. EDT, and despite their records it’s Jacksonville as a three-point home favourite with the over-under at 42.5 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Not only are the Giants outperforming their season expectations in the win-loss column, they also stand at 5-1 against the spread too. New York’s 2-0 straight up and ATS on the road this season, and the two wins happened to break a seven-game losing streak away from home. Jacksonville’s been disastrous ATS against NFC squads too, failing to cover in eight straight games versus the NFC and in five straight versus the NFC East.

The under has hit in six of the last seven Jaguars’ home games. It’s also 13-4 in the Giants’ last 17 games overall. Both defences rank in the top 10 with allowing under 19 points per game.

New York Giants

The Giants didn’t find a ton of success on offence in Week 6 but got the job done when it mattered. Saquon Barkely received 25 touches for 95 yards and punched in the game-winning touchdown for a one-yard score. Wan’Dale Robinson and Daniel Bellinger got touchdown passes from Daniel Jones, who now has five touchdown passes in six games.

The big key so far is the Giants allowing 18.8 points per game, the seventh best mark in the NFL. New York is allowing the third-fewest third down conversions per game as well, which has a direct correlation to their points allowed. Wink Martindale came in as defensive coordinator in the off-season and has fully implemented his aggressive scheme, which was on full display against Lamar Jackson.

Jacksonville Jaguars

After scoring 27 points combined in losses in Weeks4  and 5, the Jaguars scored 27 alone last Sunday but had their defence fail them. Jacksonville allowed 434 yards of offence, 389 of which coming from the air. An 11-play, 66-yard touchdown drive that got going just prior to the two minute buried Jacksonville and ended up in the aforementioned Alec Pierce winning score.

On the plus side, the Jaguars pounded the ball for 243 yards on the ground. Running backs Travis Etienne Jr., JaMycal Hasty, and James Robinson all eclipsed 50 yards on the ground, with Hasty the lone back finding the end zone. Trevor Lawrence scored twice rushing the ball, while completing 20 of his 22 passing attempts for 165 yards. Unfortunately, this all wasn’t enough.
