Giants vs. Cowboys Point Spread: NFL Week 13 Odds, Prediction

After releasing Daniel Jones, it’s a new era for the Giants, but it was the same result with a sixth straight loss last week, 30-27 against Tampa Bay. New York is now dead last in the NFL at 2-9 and they are likely a week or two away from officially being eliminated from playoff contention.

The Cowboys showed some life with last week’s 34-26 win in Washington, snapping a five-game losing skid. It’s still a tough road ahead for Dallas as they sit well out of the playoff picture at 4-7.

The Cowboys opened as heavy 9.5-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, but the season-ending injury to Dak Prescott has pushed the line to Dallas -3.5 as of Wednesday afternoon. The total has dropped significantly from 45.0 to 37.5.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Cowboys have absolutely dominated this NFC East rivalry winning seven straight games and nine of the last 10 overall. The teams already met in Week 4, with Dallas winning 20-15, although neither quarterback from that game (Prescott and Jones) will play on Thursday.

The Cowboys have been known to smash teams at home over the last few seasons, so it’s a little shocking to see they are still winless at AT&T Stadium in 2024 entering Week 13. This might finally be the week Dallas breaks through at home as the Giants have lost 10 of their last 13 road games and they are 1-7 straight up in their last eight games against NFC opponents.

Something’s gotta give this week as both teams have been horrible cover options this season. The Cowboys are 3-7-1 against the spread, while New York is just 2-8-1 ATS. Dallas has failed to cover in seven straight home games, but it’s worth noting they are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 matchups against the Giants.

With two backup QBs playing, it’s not surprising to see this is the only game of the week with a total below 40 points. Still, the Cowboys managed to put up 34 points in Washington last week, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see this game total easily clear 40 points.

New York Giants

Tommy DeVito finished last week’s game with a sore shoulder and it looks increasingly like veteran journeyman Drew Lock will start on Thursday. Frankly, that’s great news for Giants fans. New York is 0-3 SU and ATS in Tommy Cutlets’ last three starts while sporting a minus-49 point differential in that span. Lock is a serviceable option who can at least be a game manager. He’s hovering around a 60 per cent completion rate for his career and he should be effective with a simple game plan.

Regardless of who starts under centre, New York will have to run the ball against Dallas. It’d be real nice for the Giants to have Saquon Barkley at the moment, but they wanted to give his money to Daniel Jones so they let Barkley walk for free (look how that worked out). Circle rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. He’s averaging almost 80 rushing yards over the last seven games and he’s essentially made Devin Singletary a non-factor in New York’s offence.

Dallas Cowboys

Cooper Rush looks like he’s finding his groove as QB1 in Dallas. Rush put up 354 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception two weeks ago against Houston before finishing with 247 passing yards and two TDs against Washington last week. He’s relied heavily on receiver CeeDee Lamb, connecting with Lamb 10 times last week (67 yards) compared to 14 receptions for the rest of the team combined.

Running back Rico Dowdle has also come alive for the Cowboys after putting up 86 rushing yards last week. That’s huge for a Dallas squad that averages the second-fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL (82.5). Dowdle should have another big performance on Thursday. The Giants are allowing an average of 117 rushing yards per game to running backs this season and they have the third-worst rush defence in the NFL, ironically one spot higher than Dallas.
