Giants vs. Commanders Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction

The Washington Commanders are 4.5-point favourites on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This was flexed into the Sunday night window.

For the first time since the NFL added the third wild-card spot in each conference, we could see all four teams from one division make the playoffs, and that would be the NFC East. The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are in. Whether the New York Giants and/or Washington Commanders make it may depend on this game. Most likely, the only teams that could break up the NFC East party are Seattle and Detroit.

This writer can’t say he remembers a team playing the same opponent in back-to-back games in the regular season, but that’s the case for Washington as it tied the Giants 20-20 in Week 13 before going on the bye; New York did play in Week 14. The Commanders tied that first meeting on a 28-yard TD pass from Taylor Heinicke to rookie Jahan Dotson with 1:45 left in regulation. Neither club really had a good scoring chance in the overtime. The Giants’ Graham Gano missed a 58-yard field goal as time expired.

The road team is 5-1 against the spread in the past six meetings.

New York Giants

The Giants were a nice early story under first-year coach Brian Daboll, but eventually your talent level is going to show, and New York just doesn’t have a lot of it and the team is riding really its only good offensive player, running back Saquon Barkley, into the ground. The Giants are winless in their past four following a 48-22 home loss to Philadelphia on Sunday. Barkley was in question with a neck injury but did play. He didn’t look right with just 28 yards on nine carries and two catches for 20 yards on a season-low 20 offensive snaps. Barkley entered having played more than 80 per cent of the team’s offensive snaps. It was the third time in the past four games Barkley had fewer than 40 yards rushing. He is expected to keep playing. Daniel Jones had a passing and rushing score. The defence was gashed for 253 yards rushing. New York still holds down the final NFC wild-card spot. The Giants are 5-0 ATS in their past five after a loss.

Washington Commanders

Washington’s season changed when starting QB Carson Wentz went down injured as the players have clearly responded to Taylor Heinicke as the Commanders have just one loss in their past eight games. Wentz was activated from injured reserve Monday, but he’s not getting his job back barring an injury to Heinicke. Centre Tyler Larsen was placed on injured reserve after injuring his knee in the Week 13 tie against the Giants. He’s done for the year. Due to injury, Washington has started four centres and four right guards this season. After being shot on the eve of the season in a carjacking, rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. isn’t only back but thriving. He has rushed for 201 yards in his last two games.
