Arizona Cardinals

For the Cardinals, Week 16 is about reversing a trend that has seen them consistently lay a giant egg against the spread following a sensational defensive effort.

Fans of the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals are already dealing with questions about who will be throwing the football next season. But on Sunday, it’s all about Eli Manning and Drew Stanton as they go toe-to-toe at University of Phoenix Stadium with little more than pride on the line.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Cardinals are giving away a little more than a field goal in this one – and with the Giants coming in with the worst record in the NFC, Arizona might look like a solid home option in this one. But the Cardinals have been maddeningly inconsistent – they’ve covered just twice in their last 16 games after allowing fewer than 90 rushing yards in their previous game, and have failed to cover eight straight after surrendering fewer than 250 total yards in their prior contest.

Sports Interaction bettors are taking the points and running, leaning toward the Giants at a 72-percent clip. And everyone is jumping on the over-40 total play despite both teams trending toward the under in recent weeks. The Giants have gone below the total in four of their last five and are 5-11 O/U in their previous 16 road games. The Cardinals have exceeded the total just four times in their last 13 games, and are 1-4 O/U in their last five vs. NFC opponents.

New York Giants

If this is it for Manning in a Giants uniform, the last impression likely won’t be a good one. Since “reclaiming” the starting quarterback role following a bizarre one-week benching, Manning has thrown four touchdown passes with three interceptions despite compiling 662 passing yards in losses to division rivals Dallas and Philadelphia. Manning has just eight touchdown passes in six road games so far this season.

Arizona Cardinals

A week ago, there was talk that the Cardinals were prepared to make Blaine Gabbert the starting quarterback for 2018. But after Gabbert went 16-for-41 for 189 yards with an interception and two fumbles in last week’s 20-15 loss to Washington, Arizona has made the switch back to Stanton. But it won’t matter who stands under center if the Cardinals can’t fix an offensive line that has allowed a whopping 49 sacks, second-most in the NFL.
