Is their season over before it’s even begun? With 13 games remaining this season, that’s what the New York Daily News is saying about the Giants. The G-Men are staring at a 0-3 record as they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are also smarting after suffering their first loss of the season, a 34-17 setback in Minnesota against the Vikings. These two teams hook up Sunday in Florida.

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sports Interaction opened this game with the Buccaneers a slight 3-point favourite, and a game total of 44 points. The Giants have the all-time series lead in head to head meetings with a 14-6 edge. Also, in their last 5 games in Tampa, the Giants are 4-0-1 ATS, and 5-1-1 in their last 7 games against them overall. These two teams last met in 2015 with the Giants catching a 32-18 win.

New York Giants

A lot of media have pointed their finger at quarterback Eli Manning, stating that he’s showing signs of slowing down, but when you look deeper into the numbers, that isn’t necessarily true. Through 3 games he has a competition percentage of 73.5 (lifetime 59.9), yards per game average 275 (lifetime 240.4), and a QBR rating of 89.9 (lifetime 83.8).

The Giants running game is a dismal 29th in the league with only 146 total yards in 3 games, and the offensive line might be among the league’s worst. Of note, Manning is 4-0 vs. Bucs lifetime. Also, Odell Beckham Jr. was a lot more involved with the offense vs. Eagles last week, hauling in 9 balls for 79 yards and 2 scores. They will face a Tampa Bay defence that has allowed 659 yards passing against (vs. Mike Glennon, and Case Keenum), in only 2 games.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A lot went wrong with the Buccaneers in their week 3 loss in Minnesota. First off, promising quarterback Jameis Winston threw 3 costly interceptions and now has 4 in 2 games. Next, with running back Doug Martin still serving a suspension, the team collectively managed only 26 yards total along the ground.

The Bucs won’t have Martin for this game, but hopefully, the running attack can turn things around against a Giants defence that allowed 193 rushing yards against the Eagles. The Bucs had problems against a good Vikings defence, and now face a better one in the Giants.
