Washington will have a real team name next season – and while that’s great for team fans, that’s unfortunately the biggest storyline heading into Sunday’s season finale with the Giants.

Both teams have long been eliminated from the NFC playoff picture and are winding the season down with a whimper. The favoured Football Team has lost four straight, while the host Giants have dropped five in a row.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Here’s what oddsmakers think of this Giants team: They’re underdogs by a converted TD at home against a team with just six wins on the season. Washington pulled out a thrilling 30-29 home win the first time these teams faced off back in Week 2, then proceeded to drop five of its next six games to fall out of playoff contention. Neither team has been a solid ATS play, with Washington at 6-9-1 for the year and the Giants at 6-10.

The total for Sunday’s finale is a super-low 38 – and yet, two-thirds of Sports Interaction bettors are leaning toward the Under. Perhaps most of them have watched the Giants play at MetLife Stadium this season’ they’re 5-0-1 to the Under in their six home games to date, with four of those games producing fewer than 32 points. And these teams know all about low-scoring games, having gone 15-3 to the Under in their last 18 meetings in New Jersey.

Washington Football Team

While a handful of teams will be battling for the right to be called Super Bowl champion, Washington will be introducing a brand-new team name and logo to its faithful fans. The Feb. 2 announcement will put to an end a strange two-year stretch in which the franchise has been known simply as the Football Team, or WFT. And it’s more like WTF from a win-loss standpoint over that span, with the team having gone just 13-20 SU and 15-16-2 ATS.

New York Giants

The Giants are in freefall – and their head coach is getting increasingly frustrated. Joe Judge went on a lengthy rant after his team was crushed by the Chicago Bears last week – a tirade that included mention of “some clown show organization,” a perceived knock on Washington after two Football Team players were engaged in a fistfight during a Week 16 loss to Dallas. The Giants are 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six meetings with Washington.
