The odds are against either the Washington Football Team or Philadelphia Eagles challenging the Dallas Cowboys for NFC East supremacy – but one team’s chances will see a nice boost as these teams square off Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. Washington is fortunate to be in the hunt given its -58 point differential, although they have fared well in conference play and might make for a strong value bet against an Eagles team that has gone just 1-4 at home this season.

Philadelphia is a 9.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds, with a total of 44.0.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Eagles are expected to roll this weekend, but Sports Interaction bettors aren’t so sure this one is going to be a rout. Nearly 65 per cent of participants are taking Washington and the points; they’re just 5-8 against the spread for the season but they have covered in four of its last five games. The Eagles are barely above the break-even point from a covers perspective (7-6) but has gone 6-3 over its past nine games overall, and has covered four of its last five vs. NFC foes.

With the total for Sunday’s encounter set at 44, Over bettors rule the day, with 64 per cent expecting this one to surpass the total. Washington has been a superior Under play for the season at 5-8 O/U, and is on an impressive run of seven unders in its previous eight games (with four of those games coming in below the 35-point plateau). Philadelphia, on the other hand, has cashed the Over in five of its last seven and is 7-6 O/U overall.

Washington Football Team

While several teams are dealing with key absences this week due to COVID-19 or the injury bug, Washington will have one of its most important players in the lineup. Quarterback Taylor Heinecke has been upgraded to probable for this pivotal divisional matchup after suffering a knee injury in last week’s 27-20 loss to Dallas. His absence would have left Washington to rely on third-stringer Kyle Allen, who is 1-for-4 for nine yards on the season.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have received good news regarding their own quarterback situation. Jalen Hurts has returned to practice on a limited basis and is trending toward a return from an ankle injury that kept him out of action for the Eagles’ 33-18 win over the New York Jets prior to last week’s bye. Gardner Minshew threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns to lead Philadelphia to victory in that game, and would get the start if Hurts suffers a setback.
