Eagles vs. Giants Point Spread: NFL Week 7 Odds, Prediction
Barkley left the Giants this off-season after spending his first six seasons of his career there, and new flash: the 2-4 Giants could use him.
New York is optimistic that this week their new young playmaker Malik Nabers returns from a two-week absence because of a concussion, but as the football world saw last Sunday night… this New York team lacks an offensive punch, again. In a 17-7 loss to Cincinnati last week, the Giants dropped to 0-3 on home field and have one touchdown in those three defeats. Philadelphia clawed out a 20-16 victory over Cleveland last week which had head coach Nick Sirianni fired up… at his home fans. That’s NFC East football!
Kickoff at MetLife Stadium begins at 1 p.m. EDT with the Eagles -165 on the moneyline and the total at 43 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
As mentioned, home field’s been anything but an advantage for New York. As a result of scoring woes from the Giants offence, the under’s 3-0 in Giants home games this season and dating back to last season the under has hit in nine of the Giants last 11 home outings. Philadelphia’s won five of their last six trips to play the Giants.
Neither offence is clicking at the moment, but the key for Philadelphia is they have receivers A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith back in the lineup. Brown erupted for 116 yards last week, while Smith’s 45-yard score got Philadelphia the winning points. This takes the pressure off Barkley in the backfield (he rushed for a season-low 47 yards last week), but one has to wonder: with Barkley returning to New York, do the Eagles go back to a run-heavy offence in order to stick it to their divisional rival? That would bleed clock out, but that over 43 number shouldn’t be in jeopardy regardless as the Giants can barely find the end zone at home.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are teetering that line of dismantling entirely and it’s starting with their leader. Head coach Nick Sirianni did himself no favours by having a yelling match with home Eagles fans during their game last week, a game in which the Eagles squeaked by Cleveland. It’s an unhealthy distraction for a 3-2 Eagles team with a ton of questions. Having A.J. Brown back does provide a huge boost — he’s put up 116 and 119 receiving yards in his two outings this season — but through six weeks it’s been one injured player returning, and more leaving.
The latest to fall out are tight end Dallas Goedert and Jordan Mailata, both whom suffered hamstring injuries last week and don’t appear to be ready this week as both were DNPs Wednesday. Starting defensive tackle Milton Williams (ankle) also missed practice.
New York Giants
The Giants received a massive injury blow this weekend when left tackle Andrew Thomas underwent season-ending foot surgery. New York’s coming off a seven-point outing against what was the NFL’s 31st-ranked defence in points allowed. Daniel Jones completed 22 passes for 205 yards in the loss and is clearly missing his favourite target: rookie Malik Nabers. The good news is Nabers in the latter stage of concussion protocol and is practicing on a limited basis. The 2024 sixth overall pick had 52 targets through his first four NFL games.
Defensively, the Giants have held their opponents to no more than 20 points in four straight weeks. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II and his seven sacks have achieved superstar status, which is now allowing the likes of pass-rusher Brian Burns to produce. The off-season acquisition has sacks in back-to-back outings.
