Eagles vs. Commanders NFL Week 8 Betting Odds, SNF Picks: Can Philadelphia end five-game losing skid?
It’s not one of the most appealing primetime games of the 2026 NFL season on Sunday as the two-win Philadelphia Eagles visit one-win and NFC East last-place Washington.
The Commanders are -4.5 on the NFL odds with a small total of 40.5.

Like all Sunday Night Football games, this kicks at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. The Commanders don’t play in actual Washington, D.C., but Landover in Maryland.
The weather for Sunday night looks perfect for football: Cloudy in the evening, then off and on rain showers after midnight. Low 49F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 50 per cent.
NFL Betting Odds, Point Spread, Trends
In all honesty, this matchup should have been flexed out of Sunday night even though both Philadelphia and Washington are big-market teams with major followings. But the records are the records so far. The NFL and NBC both kicked around the possibility of flexing it out, but with bye weeks and other reasons there just weren’t a lot of good options to flex in. For example, CBS wasn’t about to give up the Ravens-Bills marquee matchup set for Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
The entire NFC East is a bit of a joke. Are you aware that no division teams won a game in Weeks 5-6 even though they all were in action and two of them played each other? That’s very hard to do. Any realistic playoff hopes for the Eagles and Commanders likely are dead already. Philadelphia lost starting QB Jalen Hurts to a season-ending injury, so that was pretty much that. Washington is just not very good and pretty poorly coached. Don’t expect head coach Dan Quinn to be back in 2027.
This concludes the season series as the Commanders opened the season in the City of Brotherly Love and lost 24-22. Hurts had three TD passes, and the Eagles stopped a late Washington two-point try. Jayden Daniels threw for 164 yard and two scores in a losing effort.
NFL Player Odds and Props
Take under Washington QB Jayden Daniels’ passing yardage total. The Eagles still have a good defence (usually) and Daniels has been held under 200 yards passing in three of four games.
For Philadelphia, bet tailback Dameon Pierce for an anytime touchdown with Saquon Barkley hurt again. That’s if Pierce is healthy.
Philadelphia Eagles
This season is finished for the Eagles as backup Tanner McKee just isn’t cutting it. They lost a fifth straight game on Monday night, 38-21 at home to Dallas. The skid is the team’s longest since 2016.
The good news was supposed to be the return of tailback and former NFL Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley. He did score his first TD of 2026 but then left with a back injury.
Philly fell to 3-6 without starting QB Jalen Hurts since 2021 and McKee is now 1-3 as starter. He threw for 211 yards, a TD and a pick on Monday.
The offence played decent, and was helped by the return of Pro Bowl guard Lane Dickerson, but the defence was terrible despite being essentially at full strength.
Washington Commanders
Washington comes out of its bye in the NFC East cellar at 1-4-1 and that lone win came when starting QB Jayden Daniels was out injured. The former Heisman winner and 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year is on a personal eight-game winless streak (one tie).
Daniels has made some truly baffling decisions in the past two games, not spiking the ball a few weeks ago against the Giants to try for the winning field goal and then throwing the ball away on fourth down in the Week 6 to the Niners.
To make matters worse from that game, No. 1 wideout Terry McLaurin suffered a season-ending knee injury. He leads Washington with 230 yards receiving on 15 receptions despite also missing Week 4. Rookie Antonio Williams might see more action now.
