Eagles vs. Bears Point Spread: NFL Week 15 Odds, Prediction

The Eagles became the first team this season to lock up a playoff spot with last weekend’s 48-22 rout of the rapidly fading New York Giants, extending their current straight up win streak to four games. The Bears enjoyed a much-needed bye last weekend after seeing their current losing slide extend to six games with a 28-19 loss to the visiting Green Bay Packers.

The Eagles have improved to 9-point road favourites on the NFL odds since opening at -8, and enjoy the backing of 81 per cent of sports bettors. The total has also inched upward to 48.5 after opening at 48, with the OVER attracting 57 per cent of the betting action.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sunday afternoon’s matchup at Soldier Field marks the first meeting between these NFC rivals since November 2019, and the Eagles’ first trip to the Windy City since posting a 16-15 win on Wild Card Weekend in January 2019. Overall, the Eagles have won and covered in five straight dates with the Bears, limiting Chicago to just 11.4 points per game over that stretch.

With the Bears struggling to generate offence in recent meetings, the UNDER enjoys a steady 3-0-1 run, with the total reaching 40 just once over that stretch.

Philadelphia Eagles

In addition to cementing their perch atop the NFL standings with a sparkling 12-1 straight up record, the Eagles positioned themselves as the highest scoring team with last week’s demolition of the Giants. Philadelphia has averaged 41 points per game over their past three outings, and have scored a league-best 29.7 points per game so far this season. And apart from the 40-33 win in their Thanksgiving Weekend shootout with the Packers, the Eagles have also effectively shut down opponents, allowing just 20.3 points per game during their current 4-0 surge, and fewer than 20 points in eight of their 13 contests to date.

The Eagles have benefited from good health, with the team suffering no major injuries last week, apart from safety Reed Blankenship’s knee injury, which is not expected to sideline him. It was another huge weekend for quarterback Jalen Hurts last weekend in New York. Hurts connected for 217 passing yards and one scoring toss while running for a third touchdown, and has now found the end zone 22 times over his past eight outings. Miles Sanders has also continued to produce, running for two scores last week, and five over the past three weeks.

Chicago Bears

While the Eagles have clearly found a groove, which has lifted them to strengthening +269 second favourites on the Super Bowl odds, the Bears have become the first team to fall out of playoff contention during a 0-6 run. Chicago squandered an early lead for the fifth time in as many outings in last week’s clash with Green Bay, as Aaron Rodgers led the Pack on three lengthy scoring drives in the fourth quarter to overcome a 19-10 deficit, on their way to a 28-19 win.

Last weekend’s meltdown extends a worrisome stretch of inept play after recess that has generated just 10 total second-half points over the pat three games. Justin Fields’ recent shoulder separation hasn’t helped matters. The Bears pivot was forced to miss the team’s 31-10 loss to the New York Jets two weeks ago, and failed to find the end zone for the first time in eight games in his return last weekend. However, Fields remained a rushing threat, running for 71 yards and his seventh rushing touchdowns in his past six outings.
