Dolphins vs. Falcons Point Spread: NFL Week 8 Odds, Prediction

Week 8 of the 2025 NFL campaign includes a cross-conference battle between the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

This season has already been a complete disaster for Miami, which comes in with a 1-6 record. Atlanta has been wildly inconsistent and enters this one at 3-3.

This is a largely unfamiliar matchup featuring one team from the AFC and another from the NFC. The Dolphins lead the overall head-to-head series 9-5, while the Falcons have won three of the last five following a 30-28 road victory in 2021.

The Falcons are 7.5-point favourites to win on the NFL odds, with the total set at 45.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Dolphins are 3-5 against the spread in their past eight contests dating back to last season. There also is not much to take from the Falcons’ recent trends, as they are a modest 3-2 ATS in their last five overall. The recent over/under numbers are conflicting. Whereas the over has cashed in six consecutive Miami contests, the under has hit in five of Atlanta’s six games so far in 2025.

In addition to the more traditional lines, the first-quarter spread is -0.5 in Atlanta’s favour and the first-half spread is -4.5. On the prop-betting front, Falcons running back Bijan Robinson is -245 to score at least one touchdown. DeVon Achane (-115) has the best odds among Dolphins players to find the end zone.

Miami Dolphins

Arguably no team in the entire NFL – not even the winless New York Jets – is in a worse situation than the Dolphins. Head coach Mike McDaniel is firmly on the hot seat with his team having won just a single game while failing to even be competitive in many others. Miami has twice lost by 25 points, including in Week 7 to the Cleveland Browns. In fact, it is a bit surprising that McDaniel has not been fired in advance of Sunday’s game against Atlanta.

With star receiver Tyreek Hill out for the year due to a torn ACL, things might not get any better for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and company. Now they have to face an Atlanta defence that is No. 1 in the entire NFL against the pass. Expect the Dolphins to heavily feature Achane after the Falcons were gashed by San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey for 201 all-purpose yards (129 rushing) this past Sunday.

Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is listed as day-to-day with a bone bruise in his foot after getting banged up in San Francisco. After starting just four games last year, Penix is basically still a rookie – and inconsistency is showing. The left-hander threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns during a win over the Washington Commanders, but that is the only game so far in 2025 in which he has tossed multiple scoring strikes. In a 30-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers, Penix went 18-of-36 for 172 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions.

Like Miami, Atlanta figures to keep the ball on the ground. The Dolphins are dead last league-wide in rushing defence, giving up 159.3 yards per game on 5.2 yards per attempt. Falcons RBs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier should both be in line for productive outings.

NFL Prediction: Who Will Win Dolphins vs. Falcons?

It is dysfunction junction in Miami, and going on the road won’t help. The Dolphins are 0-4 away from home this season, which includes a 31-6 loss to Cleveland and a 33-8 setback against the Indianapolis Colts. Count on Atlanta running all over Miami, with a victory of 27-13.
