Dolphins vs. Commanders Point Spread: NFL Week 13 Odds, Prediction
The 4-8 Commanders are now in the basement of the NFC East after receiving a 45-10 beatdown at Dallas on American Thanksgiving. The 8-3 Dolphins are sitting pretty atop the AFC East but bigger goals lie ahead as they sit tied or .5 game back of the other three division leaders in the AFC. Miami’s also getting some extra prep time this week as they last played on Black Friday, going on the road and defeating the Jets 34-13.
Kickoff at FedEx Field begins at 1 p.m. ES with the road Dolphins around a double-digit favourite on the point spread and the total set at 50 on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Washington enters this weekend as the league’s worst defence with 29.2 points allowed per game. Last week they faced Dallas, the league’s top scoring team at 31.5 points per game and now enters Miami, the only other NFL team averaging 30 points per game. But when they divisions clash, points don’t come so easy. The over has hit only three times in Miami’s last 17 games the NFC East, and the under is 6-1 in Washington’s last six contests against the AFC East.
The Commanders are winless in their last six December games. Miami typically doesn’t perform as strong as the weather gets chillier though too. The Dolphins are 1-4 in their last five December contests. Miami’s also 3-8 outright in their most recent 11 road games.
Miami Dolphins
All season the first-place Miami Dolphins have taken care of lesser opponents. After all, Miami’s three losses this season are to Philadelphia and then Buffalo and Kansas City in the AFC. Miami’s 34-13 win at New York last Friday was the latest exhibit as Miami’s best players were just that. Tyreek Hill had his routine 100-yard game with a score, Raheem Mostert ran for nearly triple digits and scored twice, and Jaylen Waddle came alive with a game-high 114 yards.
Star (Canadian) safety Jevon Holland stole the show though as he intercepted a Jets Hail Mary pass in the second quarter and ran it back 99 yards for a Miami touchdown. Or as it can also be said, Miami taking care of lesser opponents. Washington’s just that next team in the way.
Washington Commanders
Washington is one of two NFL teams this season with over 50 sacks allowed. So they’re not just getting beaten up on the scoreboard but taking physical punishment too. Just ask quarterback Sam Howell, who at this point is defying the odds by throwing all 486 of Washington’s pass attempts this season. Howell’s still the league’s passing leader with 3,339 yards too but it speaks a little more to Washington falling behind early and often.
The Commanders got ran out of the building last week too in the 45-10 loss at Dallas. Washington couldn’t handle the explosive Cowboys offence that cruised to over 430 yards of offence and now the Commanders have to deal with Miami. But not defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio, who the Commanders let go after the beatdown against Dallas.
