Dolphins vs. Chiefs Point Spread: NFL Week 16 Odds, Prediction
The Chiefs are 5-2 this season at Arrowhead Stadium, and face a Dolphins team who is 2-5 on the road, and 2-3 in its last five games.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Since the 1966 season, the Chiefs and Dolphins have met 29 times with the Dolphins holding the edge with a 16-13 record. More recently, these two teams last played against each other in September of 2014, where the Dolphins beat the Chiefs 34-15. The Dolphins are 2-5 on the road this season, and are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games. In those four losses, the Dolphins gave up 144 points (36 point average).
Miami Dolphins
Mathematically the Dolphins are still technically in the hunt for a wild card spot in the AFC. But at 6-8 (5-7-1 ATS), the Fins need a lot of help to make this happen, and didn’t do themselves any favours losing to the Bills last weekend in Buffalo. Quarterback Jay Cutler will make his 13th start of the season, which has been a below average season by his standards, with a quarterback rating of 80.6, 5.4 yards per attempt, 18 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. The offence as a whole is ranked 28th in total offence (301.6), while the running attack is parked in 29th place overall (88.3). However, it should be noted that rookie running back Kenyan Drake has rushed for 312 yards in his last three games (104 yard average).
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are coming off a massive 30-13 win Saturday night against the Chargers, and currently find themselves holding a one game lead over those Chargers for first place in the AFC West division. At 8-6 (8-6 ATS), the Chiefs have won two straight games and are the odds on favourites to clinch the AFC West division. Keep an eye on rookie running back Kareem Hunt. Hunt is ranked second overall in rushing yards with 1201, and just 21 yards away from Le’Veon Bell who leads the league with 1222 yards. The team has been very good on offence overall this season (ranked fifth in total offence (373.1); they should be able to put up some points against a Dolphins defence that ranked 17th in total defence (332.5).
