Cowboys vs. Titans Point Spread: NFL Week 17 Odds, Prediction

The Titans are 9.5-point underdogs on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Tennessee is tied for first in the AFC South with surprising and surging Jacksonville, but it actually doesn’t matter what the Titans do in this game or what the Jaguars do on Sunday in Houston. Tennessee visits Jacksonville in Week 18 and the winner of that will take the division and the loser most likely will miss the postseason.

Dallas already has clinched at least an NFC wild-card spot and can only win the NFC East by winning out and having the Philadelphia Eagles lose their final two games (quite unlikely).

It’s the first meeting between the teams since a Monday night on Nov. 5, 2018, at AT&T Stadium when the Titans won 28-14. Marcus Mariota was the Tennessee QB then and threw for two scores and rushed for one. Derrick Henry also rushed for a score. Dak Prescott threw for 243 yards with two TDs and a pick in the Titans’ end zone for Dallas and was sacked five times.

The road team is 4-0 ATS in the past four meetings.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys caught a big break on Christmas Eve as they didn’t have to face Eagles quarterback and MVP candidate Jalen Hurts. Dallas beat Philadelphia 40-34 — rallying from two 10-point deficits — to keep its slim NFC East title hopes alive. Dak Prescott threw for 347 yards and three scores but did have a pick-six. CeeDee Lamb had 10 catches for 120 yards and two TDs.  The Cowboys are now 11-4 and will be no worse than the fifth seed in the postseason. They are the only team in the league with three wins against teams with at least 11 wins (Eagles, Vikings, Bengals). Linebacker Leighton Vander Esch missed the game injured and is iffy this week. He has 90 tackles, second on the team and the second-highest mark of his career behind only his Pro Bowl rookie campaign. The Cowboys are 11-4 ATS in their past 15 on the road.

Tennessee Titans

The Titans played without starting QB Ryan Tannehill Saturday – he’s expected to miss the rest of the season – and it showed in a 19-14 home loss to Houston, easily the NFL’s worst club. It was the Titans’ fifth straight defeat; at 7-3, they were in the running for the AFC’s top seed but now could miss the playoffs entirely. We might see Coach Mike Vrabel rest some guys Thursday because as noted above, the game really doesn’t matter in regards to their AFC South chances. Rookie Malik Willis threw for just 99 yards with two picks against the Texans. Derrick Henry had 126 yards and a TD on the ground but a critical fourth-quarter fumble. The Titans had six drives of three and out and lead the league with 54 of those on the season. Tennessee is 0-4-1 ATS in its losing streak.
