Cowboys vs. Redskins Point Spread: NFL Predictions, Week 2 Odds

Bitter NFC rivals coming off impressive Week 1 victories square off this weekend in D.C. – but while the Dallas Cowboys didn’t exactly shock the world with their one-sided victory over the New York Giants, Washington was an unexpected winner in its Week 1 triumph over the host Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This game opened as high as Washington +7 in some spots, but the public quickly jumped on the hosts to drive the number down to +4.5. Regardless, being a home underdog hasn’t exactly agreed with Washington from a betting perspective: It’s just 1-5-1 ATS in its last seven games at FedExField when receiving four or more points. The Cowboys, on the other hand, are a red-hot 5-1-1 ATS in their previous seven games as a road favourite at any number.

Both teams enjoying better-than-expected offensive showings in Week 1 might have played a role in the total for their Week 2 encounter rising two points from an opener of 44. And that still might not be enough to deter bettors from taking the over, thanks to some pretty compelling trends; the Cowboys have gone above the number in five consecutive games vs. divisional opponents, while the teams are 6-1 O/U in their previous seven meetings overall.

Much of the focus last week was on Ezekiel Elliott, who hit the field just days after signing a new contract. But fans and bettors were left enthralled by the performance of quarterback Dak Prescott, who threw for 405 yards and four touchdowns to vault his odds of winning the league’s Most Valuable Player award all the way to +2500 – tied with four others for the 10th-best odds overall. Dallas is 5-1 ATS in its last six after racking up 350+ yards in its previous outing.

Washington Redskins

While Washington fans are feeling great about their side’s impressive showing against the rival Eagles, the victory came at a cost. Running back Derrius Guice suffered a right knee injury in Week 1 and is expected to miss time; fortunately, it’s not the same knee in which he suffered a torn ligament and missed the entire 2018 season. Look for Adrian Peterson to take on the lead back role for a Washington side that is 1-4 ATS the last five times it has hosted Dallas.
