The Cowboys will travel to face the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday afternoon. At 8-5, Dallas needs a win and a pair of losses from the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins to clinch the NFC East. Meanwhile, Indianapolis is tied with the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans for the final AFC Wild Card spot at 7-6.

The Colts are coming off a big win over the rival Houston Texans but can’t afford a letdown this weekend. Can Indianapolis take down the Cowboys at home? Or will Dallas move one step closer to a division title by extending its win streak to six in a row? Here is a closer look at the matchup.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Colts are listed as a three-point favorite for this weekend’s game. Indianapolis is 6-6-1 against the spread this season. The Colts have played their best football of late going 4-2-1 against the spread over their last seven games. Indianapolis is 4-2 straight up at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Cowboys have actually won each of the last four games in which they have been listed as a sports betting underdog. Dallas has upset the Jacksonville Jaguars, Eagles, Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints, which is a big reason why it is 8-5 against the spread this season.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are 1-2 against AFC South opponents this season including losses to the Titans and the Texans. However, both of those games were early in the season and a lot has changed since then. Dallas has been outstanding on both sides of the football over its last five wins. The Cowboys defence has stepped up big time thanks in large part due to one of the best linebacker tandems in the NFL in Jaylon Smith and rookie Leighton Vander Esch. Meanwhile, wide receiver Amari Cooper has helped spark a dormant Dallas offence with 40 catches for 642 yards and six touchdowns in six games.

The defence will need another outstanding effort in order to slow down Andrew Luck and company this week. However, they can’t win this game alone so it will be on Cooper, Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott to play at a high level in order to extend their win streak on the road.

Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis clinched a statement win over Houston last week. If the Colts played the way they did against the Texans this week, they will be tough to beat at home. Luck threw for 399 yards and two touchdowns in that victory. T.Y. Hilton was a big part of his production with nine catches for 199 yards. Meanwhile, Marlon Mack chipped in with 33 rushing yards and a score.

When Indy’s offence is firing on all cylinders, it is very difficult to slow down. With home field advantage this weekend, they will definitely put the Cowboys defence to the test. Meanwhile, the Colts defence could end up being the deciding factor in this game. Indianapolis held Deshaun Watson to 267 passing yards and one score last week. If they can do the same with Prescott this week, then the Colts should be able to find a way to win this game in a similar fashion in order to remain in the AFC Wild Card hunt.
