The Chiefs rolled past the Las Vegas Raiders in a Sunday Night Football rout, but are only minuscule favourites Sunday against a Cowboys team that is running away with the division crown thanks to the second-best point differential in the NFC.

We have a magic number alert in Kansas City, with the Chiefs favoured by just under a field goal. And while the Chiefs remain a popular option among casual bettors, their well-documented ATS struggles have this one as a near-split, with 51 percent taking the visitors and the points. The Cowboys have been the top cover option in the NFL this season at 8-1 ATS, including a peerless 4-0 ATS mark away from Big D. The Chiefs are 3-7 ATS for the year.
Oddsmakers are expecting a defence-optional contest in Missouri this weekend, placing the total at a sky-high 56. And we all know how much the public loves the Over, so it shouldn’t be that big a surprise to see 90 percent of Sports Interaction participants rolling with the O56 at -111. Yet, despite both teams looking dominant offensively for most of the season, Dallas is a modest 5-4 O/U for the season while the Chiefs are at 5-5.

McCarthy and the Cowboys have built a 3 ½-game lead atop the NFC East and are excelling at both ends of the field, ranked atop the league in scoring (31.6 ppg) and 10th in scoring defence (21.7). And if you like the Cowboys this week, it might be a good time to invest in McCarthy’s current COY odds, which sit at +800.
Kansas City Chiefs
The +800 is a bit of a magic number for this preview. In addition to being McCarthy’s odds at winning COY, they’re also the current Sports Interaction odds on the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl – and there’s value here if you truly believe that the two-time defending AFC champions have truly turned things around. Bettors might also consider Patrick Mahomes (+330) to throw the most TD passes; he enters Sunday just two back of league leader Tom Brady.
